Waiting On God's Anointing Series

This is not a full message but a thought about the process of preparing for God’s anointing. What to do while we are wainting for his call, purpose.

Introduction

When we first meet David we find that he is the last son of many brothers. People didn’t think much about David. He was this shepherd boy who kept watch over the sheep. When Samuel came to the house of Jesse to anoint a king David was never invited.

What did David do before he was anointed?

But let me tell you while no body ever thought of David, David kept doing what God had called him to do. He was faithful in the little that God had given him. It may be measly old sheep but it was God’s calling. If you read the Psalms you realize that it was in these quiet times under starry skies where David built that relationship with the Lord.

It is in those times away from the action that God was building a boy of faith. Where God was instilling character. Don’t be embarrassed if you are not in the lime light. If people don’t know about what you are going through. God does and he is preparing you for a great anointing.

People will wonder, how did they get there. They will think boy they just luckly showed up but I learned there is no luck but it is in God’s preparation.

We need to learn to build routines in our life that we carry us to and through our breakthrough. Routines are not built in good times but in our faithfulness in hard times. It is in our consistant prayer life throught the rough times of life.

Routines of the Word, routines of the Work.

Now the LORD said to Samuel, "How long will you mourn for Saul, seeing I have rejected him from reigning over Israel? Fill your horn with oil, and go; I am sending you to Jesse the Bethlehemite. For I have provided Myself a king among his sons." And Samuel said, "How can I go? If Saul hears it, he will kill me." And the LORD said, "Take a heifer with you, and say, ’I have come to sacrifice to the LORD.’ "Then invite Jesse to the sacrifice, and I will show you what you shall do; you shall anoint for Me the one I name to you." So Samuel did what the LORD said, and went to Bethlehem. And the elders of the town trembled at his coming, and said, "Do you come peaceably?" And he said, "Peaceably; I have come to sacrifice to the LORD. Sanctify yourselves, and come with me to the sacrifice." Then he consecrated Jesse and his sons, and invited them to the sacrifice. So it was, when they came, that he looked at Eliab and said, "Surely the Lord’s anointed is before Him." But the LORD said to Samuel, "Do not look at his appearance or at the height of his stature, because I have refused him. For the Lord does not see as man sees; for man looks at the outward appearance, but the LORD looks at the heart." So Jesse called Abinadab, and made him pass before Samuel. And he said, "Neither has the LORD chosen this one." Then Jesse made Shammah pass by. And he said, "Neither has the LORD chosen this one." Thus Jesse made seven of his sons pass before Samuel. And Samuel said to Jesse, "The LORD has not chosen these." And Samuel said to Jesse, "Are all the young men here?" Then he said, "There remains yet the youngest, and there he is, keeping the sheep." And Samuel said to Jesse, "Send and bring him. For we will not sit down till he comes here." So he sent and brought him in. Now he was ruddy, with bright eyes, and good-looking. And the LORD said, "Arise, anoint him; for this is the one!" Then Samuel took the horn of oil and anointed him in the midst of his brothers; and the Spirit of the LORD came upon David from that day forward. So Samuel arose and went to Ramah.

God doesn’t bring you down here in these altars, have you speak in tongues, weep and fall out so you can go back to you normal life. He does it to bring a breakthrough moment in your life.

You have to learn to look at your circumstances differently. You have to view them as an opportunity.
