Summary: So many times we get tired of waiting on God to fulfull his promise to us. Whether it’s waiting on His return, or waiting for an answer, Peter gives us four key principles to help us while waiting on God.

Hebrews 6:1 reads: “Therefore leaving the elementary teaching about the Christ, let us press on to maturity, not laying again a foundation of repentance from dead works and of faith toward God.”

The Little Old Lady

There was a little old lady, who every morning. Stepped onto her front porch, raised her arms to the sky, and shouted: "PRAISE THE LORD!"

One day an atheist moved into the house next door.

He became irritated at the little old lady. Every morning he would step onto his front porch after her and yell: "THERE IS NO LORD!"

Time passed with the two of them carrying on this way every day. Then one morning, in the middle of winter, the little old lady stepped onto her front porch and shouted: "PRAISE THE LORD! Please Lord, I have no food and I am starving, provide for me, oh Lord!

The next morning she stepped onto her porch and there were two huge bags of groceries sitting there.

"Praise the Lord!" she cried out. "He has provided groceries for me!”

The atheist neighbor jumped out of the hedges and shouted: “There is no Lord -- I bought those groceries!!"

The little old lady threw her arms into the air and shouted: “Praise The Lord -- He has provided me with groceries and made the devil pay for them!”

Growing in grace isn’t a matter of your becoming bigger and stronger, growing in grace is getting yourself out of the way to allow Christ to live through you.

While we learn to grow in the grace and knowledge of Christ,

I think some of us get discouraged when God doesn’t meet our deadlines or we see big stuff happening that we pray for.

And one of two things happens – either we just give up on the miracle.

We get discouraged and we stop believing, we stop praying, and we stop hoping…

Or we strike out --- so we stop getting into the batter’s box.

We reason to ourselves that if we don’t swing we can’t miss.

But the problem with that is this: you can’t get a hit either!

Please don’t give up praying. I’m still praying for some of you…for over a year!
