Summary: Friend, it is one thing to ask God what we want, but it is gorgeous when He looks at you and asks you what you want? Staggering!

Venture & capture!

2 King 2:9 “……when they had crossed over, that Elijah said to Elisha, "Ask! What may I do for you, before I am taken away from you?" Elisha said, "Please let a double portion of your spirit be upon me."

Friend, it is one thing to ask God what we want, but it is gorgeous when He looks at you and asks you what you want? Staggering! Astounding! However, the latter question from the Creator comes only after we surpass insurmountable odds and get His attention. In the above scripture, we see Elisha, the disciple of Elijah, clinging on firmly to his master , since he knew that Elijah will be leaving him shortly. They travel through Gilgal, Bethel, Jericho and Jordan; throughout, Elisha refused to leave Elijah. Observe, at Jordan, around 50 prophets were curiously watching both these men standing in front of the Jordan river. While the other 50 prophets chose to stand at a distance, Elisha determined his heart to stay close with his master and also dared to stand with him in front of Jordan. I’m excited!

If you don’t venture, you cannot capture! When the Lord asked me to leave Chennai and go to Hyderabad to start ministry, it was a challenging journey. After investing several years in Chennai, to start all over again from the scratch, was unthinkable! We had no support or recommendation, the language and culture were new, besides school and college admission, we had a host of other challenges to face as well. Nevertheless, we obeyed! We left for the new city with an empty pocket. Hear it again, I did not have a huge bank balance to back me up in the new city, apart from God, I had absolutely nothing. However, God had great things planned for us in this new city. Within a year, on May 16, 2010, we started our church- SHILOH REVIVAL CHURCH! Subsequently, in the coming years, we started the Chrildren Home and Abide Public School. Doing what God wants us to do, will open up an entirely new future in our lives! Nothing comes, though, without taking a risk and stepping forward with giant faith!

Coming back to Elisha, when his boss Elijah watched his steadfast and sincere walk, looked at him and asked, "Ask! What may I do for you, before I am taken away from you?" These words captivated my attention and made me write this devotion! Observe the words: ‘when they had crossed over!’ Yes, you need to cross over and overcome hurdles, if you need greater blessings from God! Elisha replied, ‘give me double portion of your anointing.’ That was a daring request! Though he asked for a hard thing, it was granted to him. Friend, when you give ‘much’ to God, you can ask ‘much’ also! John 15:7 “If you abide in Me, and My words abide in you, you will ask what you desire, and it shall be done for you.”

Obey His Word, ask Him for guidance and then unleash it!
