Summary: As we walk through Romans Paul turns his focus to systematically deconstructing the religious system.

THE BEST SUMMER EVER

UNJUDGED

OUTLINE

THE BEST SUMMER EVER

UNJUDGED

1 Therefore you are inexcusable, O man, whoever you are who judge, for in

whatever you judge another you condemn yourself; for you who judge practice

the same things. 2 But we know that the judgment of God is according to truth

against those who practice such things. 3 And do you think this, O man, you who

judge those practicing such things, and doing the same, that you will escape the

judgment of God?

1. DON’T JUDGE (1-3)

(WE CONDEMN OURSELVES WHEN WE CONDEMN OTHERS)

4 Or do you despise the riches of His goodness, forbearance, and longsuffering,

not knowing that the goodness of God leads you to repentance? 5 But in

accordance with your hardness and your [a]impenitent heart you are [b]treasuring

up for yourself wrath in the day of wrath and revelation of the righteous

judgment of God, 6 who “will render to each one according to his deeds”:

7 eternal life to those who by patient continuance in doing good seek for glory,

honor, and immortality;

2. DO GOOD (4-7)

(WE DO GOOD WHEN WE LIVE IN HIS GOODNESS)

8 but to those who are self-seeking and do not obey the truth, but obey

unrighteousness—indignation and wrath, 9 tribulation and anguish, on every soul

of man who does evil, of the Jew first and also of the Greek; 10 but glory, honor,

and peace to everyone who works what is good, to the Jew first and also to the

Greek. 11 For there is no partiality with God. 12 For as many as have sinned without

law will also perish without law, and as many as have sinned in the law will be

judged by the law 13 (for not the hearers of the law are just in the sight of God,

but the doers of the law will be justified;

3. DIE TO YOUR PRIDE (8-13)

(THE SELF RIGHTEOUS WILL BE JUDGED THE SAME AS THE UNRIGHTEOUS)

14 for when Gentiles, who do not have the law, by nature do the things in the law,

these, although not having the law, are a law to themselves, 15 who show the work

of the law written in their hearts, their conscience also bearing witness, and

between themselves their thoughts accusing or else excusing them) 16 in the day

when God will judge the secrets of men by Jesus Christ, according to my gospel.

4. DO WHAT YOU KNOW TO DO. (14-16)

(WE ARE JUDGED BY WHAT WE KNOW)

Ill<><I think this is kind of theme amongst a few of our pastors that we drive a little bit to fast. I’m not saying its terrible bad I’m just saying we might need to put a line item in the budget to help pay for all these tickets. I am not condoning speeding for all our law enforcement officers and holy rollers out there. I have been doing really good with my speed. I received my first speeding ticket when I was 15 years old driving a 1981 Buick Lasabre. I was doing 76 in a 55. That car was like a stretched out tank. I’m sitting on the side of the road all my friends are passing me by. He hands me this little piece of paper with a court date on it and it all got real very quick. I was thinking I’m going to die. It has been great living these 15 years. I get home & tell my parents that I got a ticket & somehow they already knew. I never stood before the judge but my father knew him well. He called my dad and said tell him the next time I’m going to make him pay the ticket but I’m going to pardon it this time. The judge said this. I got to school the next day several of my partners at school were making front of me for getting a ticket. I wasn’t supposed to say anything but I couldn’t help I said you know what the judge pardoned it & it really doesn’t matter what you think bc you have absolutely no power of my ability to drive this car. You can’t judge me only the judge can judge me.

TRANSITION

What Paul is dealing with today something Jesus dealt with more than anything else. It is Self Righteousness.

Paul has just finished nailing all the sin that was going on. He listed over 20 sins in a scriptural rant.
