The Object of His Love

1. v.6 Without strength

- A helpless dependent child

- Incapable of doing anything for ourselves

- Not knowing purpose

- Elisha & widow of Zarephath 1 Ki 17:9-24

- Just a handful of meal & oil that we and my son may eat & die

2. v. 6 - Ungodly

- Denying God

- Leads to a lifestyle of vicious wickedness

Sounds absolutely boring. Poor children having their individuality taken away. Christianity--making sheep out of people for more than 2 thousand years!

And what's this? "we teach creation as opposed to evolution." Admittedly furthering the dissemination of impossible fairy tales as truth.

The Purpose of His Love

Jesus came to die as payment & substitute

1. v. 9 - To Save

- In the darkness of bondage

- No hope

- Nothing but death faced man

2. v. 9 - To Justify

- To demonstrate or prove to be just, right, or valid:

- To satisfy the judgment of sin

- Now pronounced righteousness

- To be blessed beyond measure in every area of our lives

3. v. 10 - To Reconcile

To restore the relationship God first had with man

- - To be restored to the family of God

- As an heir I have the privilege of being a son

4. v. 11 - To Satisfy

“we now receive the atonement”

- Israel celebrates Yom Kippur this Wed. (Day of Atonment)

- To cleanse guilt

Lev. 16 – the two goats (scapegoat & sin `offering to be killed)

The Results of His Love

v. 11 - Joy

- The result of intament relationship

Luke 15:22–23 (AV)

22 But the father said to his servants, Bring forth the best robe, and put it on him; and put a ring on his hand, and shoes on his feet:

23 And bring hither the fatted calf, and kill it; and let us eat, and be merry:

ROBE – Position restored with the family

RING – Authority wealth and dignity

SHOES - Slaves went barefoot. symbol of freedom & honor

CELEBRATE- Eat, & be merry
