Summary: In this sermon , we'll explore the different ways demons can gain access to a person's life, as well as the biblical basis for understanding these entry points.
The Bible teaches that demons can enter a person's life through various means, leading to bondage and oppression. In this sermon , we'll explore the different ways demons can gain access to a person's life, as well as the biblical basis for understanding these entry points.
1. Through Our Own Sin
The Bible warns that sin can open the door to demonic influence (1 Samuel 15:23; Romans 6:6; Galatians 5:16-21). When we engage in sinful behavior, we can create an environment that allows demons to take hold. For example, idolatry, rebellion, and other forms of disobedience to God can lead to demonic oppression.
2. Through the Sin of Our Ancestors
The Bible also teaches that the consequences of our ancestors' sin can be passed down to future generations (Exodus 20:5). This can lead to hereditary bondages, such as spirits of grief, rejection, or memories. These bondages can affect a person's life in profound ways, requiring deliverance and healing.
3. Domination by Another Person
Demons can also enter a person's life through domination by another person, such as a spirit of Jezebel. This type of demonic influence can lead to manipulation, control, and bondage.
4. Through Our Mind
Our thought life can also be a doorway for demonic influence. Fantasies, lustful thoughts, and other forms of mental sin can create an environment that allows demons to take hold.
5. Other Entry Points
The Bible and experience have shown that demons can enter a person's life through various other means, including:
Touching dead bodies (Numbers 19:11)
Shock, particularly at times of accident
Grief
Accidents
Marriage breakdowns
Habits, such as masturbation or substance abuse
Soul ties
Transference through non-Christian relationships, media, or occult practices
Unforgiveness (Matthew 18:34-35)
Rejection, whether experienced in the womb, through adoption, or in other ways
Spirits of tradition, pride, and prejudice
Occult practices (Deuteronomy 18:9-12)
Understanding the Enemy's Tactics"
As Christians, we face a spiritual enemy who seeks to destroy our relationship with God and undermine our faith. The Bible warns us about the tactics of the enemy, and it's essential to understand these tactics to effectively resist them.
Recognizing the Enemy's Influence
The enemy's influence can manifest in various ways, including:
• Emotional struggles: depression, anxiety, fear, and suicidal thoughts
• Spiritual resistance: inner resistance to the Word of God, no desire for prayer and Bible study
• Mental strongholds: blasphemous thoughts, manic fits, visions of ghostly forms
• Relational issues: inability to make decisions, feelings of anxiety, gripping feelings about the throat
• Occult influences: voices that won't leave, fits of rage, melancholia, schizophrenia
The Enemy's Tactics
The enemy uses various tactics to lead us astray, including:
• Ethnic traditions and cultural influences: ancestor worship, religious spirits
• False religions and heresies: teachings that deny the Bible's authority
• Curses: self-imposed, relational, or imposed by others
• Occult practices: fire-walking, charms, fetishes, yoga, martial arts, Transcendental Meditation
• Self-inflicted harm: piercing the flesh
Resisting the Enemy
The Bible teaches us how to resist the enemy's tactics:
• Put on the armor of God (Ephesians 6:10-18)
• Resist the devil, and he will flee from you (James 4:7)
• Renew your mind in the Word of God (Romans 12:2)
• Seek deliverance and healing through prayer and fasting
The Path to Deliverance
The Bible teaches that deliverance from spiritual bondage is possible through faith in Jesus Christ. To experience deliverance, we must follow certain biblical principles.
Principles for Deliverance
1. Humility: We must humble ourselves before God, recognizing our need for deliverance.
2. Honesty: We must be completely honest about our sins and struggles.
3. Confession: We must confess our sins to God and others (James 5:14-16).
4. Repentance: We must repent of our sins, turning away from them.
5. Forgiveness: We must forgive others and ourselves.
6. Calling on the Name of the Lord: We must call on God's name, seeking His deliverance (Acts 2:21).
Manifestations of Deliverance
When people are delivered, various manifestations can occur, such as:
• Unusual physical movements or sounds
• Emotional releases
• Freedom from addictive or compulsive behaviors
Why People Are Not Delivered
Sometimes, people are not delivered because they:
1. Fail to repent: Repentance is a crucial step in deliverance.
2. Do not forgive: Unforgiveness can block deliverance.
3. Refuse to break with the occult: Involvement in occult practices can hinder deliverance.
Deliverance is a powerful experience that can bring freedom and healing. By following biblical principles and seeking God's deliverance, we can experience transformation and live a life that honors Him.
Spiritual warfare is a real and ongoing battle. By understanding the enemy's tactics and recognizing the signs of spiritual struggle, we can effectively resist the enemy and live a life that honors God. Let's stand firm in our faith, putting on the armor of God and seeking deliverance and healing through prayer and fasting.
