Summary: Prophet Isaiah cries - Woe is me, I am man of unclean lips. Unclean lips because he speaks Godly words, but they lack(don’t have) Jesus, i.e. they do not talk, describe, or present Jesus. They talk about God and His plans, but they rarely mention about Jesus in these plans.

“Woe is me, for I am undone! Because I am a man of unclean lips” Isaiah 6:5

Prophet Isaiah cries - Woe is me, I am man of unclean lips. Unclean lips because he speaks Godly words, but they lack(don’t have) Jesus, i.e. they do not talk, describe, or present Jesus. They talk about God and His plans, but they rarely mention about Jesus in these plans. According to God, cleanliness is how much we allow Jesus to change our lives and how much we become like Jesus. The words we speak, how much they describe and reflect about Jesus. Before this encounter, Prophet Isaiah did not mention about Jesus in Chapters 1-5.

After this encounter from Isaiah chapters 7-66, he began speaking, describing various manifold aspects about such as Jesus as Emmanuel, Suffering Saviour, Jesus as the great light shining in the darkness, Jesus' birth is the best thing that has ever happened in a place(Matthew 2:6), and so on. Isaiah was speaking about Jesus and revealing his greatness as a suffering saviour. From Chapter 7 through Chapter 66, it was so much about Jesus being the centre of God’s plans and Jesus being at the focus of God's intentions. Isaiah was among the first to describe the Saviour's coming to redeem humanity not via authority or power, but through His sacrifice as a lamb.

According to Isaiah, the Saviour will lay down his life like a spotless unblemished lamb. Jesus had complete power and authority to rule the universe, but He chose to use this power and authority to lay down His life for humanity. Jesus saved humanity by the power to lay down His life. Though we may speak great words about God, if Jesus is missing in them, then these words can be unclean words. Isaiah may have understood that God's words and plans without Jesus are unclean. So he cried, saying, "Woe to me, I am a man of unclean lips."

Jesus in our lives, allowing His words and life to overflow in our lives is cleanness in God's eyes. Godly words without Jesus are also unclean words and make us unclean in God's eyes. Jesus in us is the only good thing Father’s likes about us. Father God is not impressed by our deeds or sacrifices, but by how we are becoming like Jesus. The steps we take to become like Jesus with the help of Holy Spirit impresses Father God.

Maybe the live coal from heaven’s altar represents the live or burning knowledge of Jesus as suffering saviour that was imparted to Isaiah. Seraphim’s before God’s throne which can easily withstand temperatures of thousands of degrees brought the live coal with a tongs. The temperature of live coal would easily exceed 10000 degrees.

Imagine how hot and burning the live coal was and how much high intensity burning knowledge of Jesus as suffering saviour that was imparted to Isaiah. It was a live coal, which meant it had been picked from heaven’s altar at the point of time. The altar was a place of sacrifice. Why was there an altar in heaven? Perhaps Jesus was sacrificed on heaven's altar from eternity past, and this live coal was a deposit of knowledge of Jesus' sacrifice. Earthly fire goes out after a while as the fuel runs out, but God's fire never goes out. This fire touches the coal, causing it to become live coal that can burn indefinitely or continually. It can burn infinitely until the sacrifice of Jesus saves all of humanity.

This live coal touches Isaiah’s lips – Imagine how much high intensity was the revelation of Jesus as suffering saviour imparted in Isaiah’s life. God's fire must have touched his entire body. His lips, eyes, mind and every part of body would have been touched. Isaiah’s lips were touched by a live coal that the Seraphim couldn't hold. The revelation of Jesus as suffering saviour ignited and set Isaiah’s life on fire to preach about Jesus as Suffering Saviour. This revelation of Jesus as a suffering saviour is still burning in the book of Isaiah for at least last 3000 years. When we read the book of Isaiah, did we encounter this fire of Jesus as suffering saviour and are we touched by this fire?

Today, we must ask God to touch our lives with this burning fire so that we may completely know the Suffering Saviour, because we still know so little about the Cross, the cost of redemption, and why God must send His own son to be slain. Many prophecies in the book of Isaiah have yet to be correctly interpreted. If the old testament prophesies are not interpreted, how will we interpret the end-time prophesies? The beauty of heaven was crucified for an undeserving Universe. We don’t know from eternity perspective, how much trillions of worth was the sacrifice of Jesus. We have no idea how much the Cross changed Father God's love for us.
