TYPES OF MINISTRY?
By Wade Martin Hughes Sr. Kyfingers@aol.com
THE PROBLEM OF THE HEART?
Matthew 6:33 But seek ye first the kingdom of God, and his righteousness; and all these things shall be added unto you.
Ministry takes many forms. My simple definition of ministry is something like this: TO SEE A NEED, talk to God seeking his direction, THEN DEVELOP A PLAN OF ATTACK. Friend, you are not the problem, you are the SOLUTION. See many social groups see the need and they develop a human or carnal plan. Our social answer is MORE MONEY! We need to dump more money on this project and money is the solution.
We see many crisis in our educational systems, let’s raise taxes and give more money to the schools? Wow, want to discuss crisis? Let’s look at our medical field… dump more money? Insurance premiums go higher and higher and pay less and less? Look at the violence in the USA? There is a call for gun control and push more money in law enforcement?
STD’s, sexually transmitted diseases, teen pregnancies are hurting many families? More money and class room sex education? How about the drug problems effecting every family? More money, bigger jails? DIVORCE, the decay of the family unit? Pay slicker lawyers?
THE PROBLEM OF THE HEART IS THE HEART OF THE PROBLEM! Spiritual problems may be INTERNAL, but this spiritual problems will always express themselves with EXTERNAL PROBLEMS.
WHERE IS OUR SAFETY NET? JESUS GIVES US A LESSON ABOUT SOCIAL PROBLEMS AND CRIMES WERE BEING COMMITTED ON A REGULAR BASIS. THIS WAS EXPRESSED AS AN EXTERNAL PROBLEM OF A CRIME WAVE.
**MR. HURT…
I do not know if these mean men were alcoholics or drug addicts? I do know they had no conscience or remorse.
This was habitual behavior.
This man was hurt and going to die if he was not extended help. WHO CARES FOR THE HURTING?
Luke 10:30 And Jesus answering said, A certain man went down from Jerusalem to Jericho, and fell among thieves, which stripped him of his raiment, and wounded him, and departed, leaving him half dead.
**MR. BURN OUT…
THERE WAS A SAFETY NET IN THIS COMMUNITY… THE CHURCH AND THE SPIRITUAL WARFARE…
Luke 10:31 And by chance there came down a certain priest that way: and when he saw him, he passed by on the other side.
For many years I got angry at this “CERTAIN PRIEST” walking away from the need. After 40 years in the full time ministry I understand my Pastor friend… HE WAS BURNED OUT… Spiritual burn out comes after pouring all you have and still nothing… NO CHANGE…
I was talking to a pastor friend and I saw signs of BURN OUT and I tried to minister to him. HE SAID: “I AM NOT BURNED OUT, I AM BURNED UP.” The deacons don’t deacon. The Sunday School teachers don’t come to Sunday School.
The janitor does not clean? I DO IT ALL.
** MR LONG NOSE
THE NEXT TYPE OF LEADER IS MR. LONG NOSE AND BIG MOUTH…
The deacon or Levite came by, I think it must have been about church time as the leaders are walking by the same place near the same time. The Levite tool the time to analyze the situation but DO NOTHING.
Luke 10:32 And likewise a Levite, when he was at the place, came and looked on him, and passed by on the other side.
I HAVE OFTEN WONDERED DID LONG NOSE REQUEST PRAYER AT CHURCH? He saw the need in detail…
** MR COMPASSION
REAL MINISTRY IS NOT PASSIVE, IT IS ACTION, LOVE ACTION… BUT A CERTAIN SAMARITAN, THERE WAS RACIAL TENSION BETWEEN ISRAEL AND SAMARIA… that did not matter the NEED DEMANDED ACTION…
Luke 10: 33 But a certain Samaritan, as he journeyed, came where he was: and when he saw him, he had compassion on him, 34 And went to him, and bound up his wounds, pouring in oil and wine, and set him on his own beast, and brought him to an inn, and took care of him. 35 And on the morrow when he departed, he took out two pence, and gave them to the host, and said unto him, Take care of him; and whatsoever thou spendest more, when I come again, I will repay thee.
The Samaritan gave first aid, HE WALKED AND LET THE HURT MAN RIDE…
Why did he not pay more then: I THINK THAT IS ALL THE MONEY HE HAD TO SPARE AT THAT TIME?
SEEMS WE HAVE A PRIORITY ISSUE: WHAT IS FIRST IN YOUR DAILY LIFE?
**GAP STANDERS
WE NEED A MINISTRY ALIVE AND WELL IN OUR SOCIETY, WE NEED GAP-STANDERS…
Ezekiel 22:30 And I sought for a man among them, that should make up the hedge, and stand in the gap before me for the land, that I should not destroy it: but I found none.
