Summary: Understanding Judas, helps us understand ourselves.
He is saying the same thing to us…It doesn’t come from your ambition, your work ethic, your talents or gifts, your bank account, or what is parked in your garage, what ever we have comes from God!!
Matthew 26:20-25-When evening had come, He sat down with the twelve. Now as they were eating, He said, “Assuredly, I say to you, one of you will betray Me.”
And they were exceedingly sorrowful, and each of them began to say to Him, “Lord, is it I?” He answered and said, “He who dipped his hand with Me in the dish will betray Me. The Son of Man indeed goes just as it is written of Him, but woe to that man by whom the Son of Man is betrayed! It would have been good for that man if he had not been born.” Then Judas, who was betraying Him, answered and said, “Rabbi, is it I?”
He said to him, “You have said it.”
And they were exceedingly sorrowful, and each of them began to say to Him, “Lord, is it I?”
The disciples begin to look around and look at each other and look at themselves and asked the question “Is it me?”
We need to recognize the capacity within us, to betray Jesus.
We sometimes need to stop and make sure they were not betraying Christ….With our words and with our deeds, with our actions.
We can betray Jesus with our agenda, with our programs, with our plans, with our own ideas, with our motives.
Would you be so bold to say, “Lord if I'm the problem, then correct me!”
“Lord, if I'm a hindrance, then remove me from the situation!”
