TRYING TO PLAY GOD? IS IT A SMALL THING?

No, this chair can't? No, it will hold me? There is only one way to prove if the chair

I. THERE IS A DOMAINT DESIRE HIDDEN IN THE HEART OF FALLEN MAN:

II. REMEMBER? MEMORIAL? COST OF PLAYING GOD?

THERE WAS A MEMORIAL OF MELTED BRASS COVERING THE ALTAR...

250 CENSERS OF THOSE PLAYING GOD WERE MELTED AND PLACE AS A COVERING

ON THE ALTAR: REMEMBER???

Numbers 16:39 And Eleazar the priest took the brasen censers, wherewith they that were burnt

had offered; and they were made broad plates for a covering of the altar:

III. IS IT A SMALL THING? THERE WERE 250 LEADERS THAT DID NOT LIKE THE WAY THE

PREACHER WAS DOING THINGS? THEY DID NOT LIKE THE WAY GOD WAS HANDLING

THINGS AND THEY THOUGHT THEY COULD DO BETTER...

Numbers 16:9 Seemeth it but a small thing unto you, that the God of Israel hath separated you

from the congregation of Israel, to bring you near to himself to do the service of the tabernacle of the

Lord, and to stand before the congregation to minister unto them?

Numbers 16:13 Is it a small thing that thou hast brought us up out of a land that floweth with milk

and honey, to kill us in the wilderness, except thou make thyself altogether a prince over us?

IV. NUMBERS 16 RECORDS AN EVENNT IN HISTORY WHERE 250 MEN OF RENOUN DECIDED

A REBELLION WAS IN ORDER AGAINST MOSES AND AARON AND THE CHURCH... AND

THE ULTIMATE REBELLION WAS AGAINST THE AUTHORITY OF GOD...

KORAH BECOMES THE LEADER... THERE IS A BIG PRICE PLAYING GOD...

Numbers 16:29 If these men die the common death of all men, or if they be visited after the

visitation of all men; then the Lord hath not sent me.

V. IS IT A SMALL THING TO TRY TO PLAY GOD...???

KORAH, DATHAN, ABIRAM AND 250 MEN AND THEIR FAMILIES WERE SWALLOWED BY

THE EARTH FOR TRYING TO PLAY GOD... DANGER... DANGER...

God knew what He was doing even when men thought differently...

VI. THE MODERN TENDANCY TODAY IS TO MAKE MAN AND MATERIALISM GOD...

THERE COMES A FALLING AWAY...

2 Thes. 2:2 That ye be not soon shaken in mind, or be troubled, neither by spirit, nor by word,

nor by letter as from us, as that the day of Christ is at hand.

[3] Let no man deceive you by any means: for that day shall not come, except there come a

falling away first, and that man of sin be revealed, the son of perdition;

[4] Who opposeth and exalteth himself above all that is called God, or that is worshipped; so

that he as God sitteth in the temple of God, shewing himself that he is God.

MANY POPULAR TEACHINGS TODAY SAY THAT MAN IS IS OWN GOD...

OR THAT MAN WILL BECOME A GOD AND HAVE HIS OWN WORLD...

These teachings slap God in the face, suggesting that we can do God's work better

than he can?

OTHER TEACHING BYPASS THE IMPORTANT OF THE CHURCH...

HUMANISM:

Evolving,evolution, progressive non-religious philosophy emphasizing human values and

devaluing God and eternal values...

MATERIALISM: (YUPPY)

The importance of life is how much you acquire...

Tendency to prefer or place greater value on material possessions and physical comfort over

spiritual or eternal values.

THIS TEACHES THE THEORY THAT NOTHING ELSE IS AS IMPORTANT AD MATTER AND

ACCUMULATING MATTER.

This is the " ME GENERATION." THE ONLY FOCUS IS ME AND WHAT DOES THIS DO

FOR ME...

VII. I DON'T NEED GOD, I CAN HANDLE THIS?

THERE IS A CRY OF COMPROMISE, LOWER THE STANDARDS, LOWER EXPECTATIONS...
