This sermon encourages us to fully trust in God, seek His guidance in all aspects of our lives, and promises His direction for our paths.

Introduction

Good morning, beloved family of God. It's always a joy to gather together in this place, this hallowed sanctuary where we meet with our Creator, our Redeemer, and our Sustainer. We are here today, not by accident, but by divine appointment. Each one of us has been called to this place at this time to hear a message from God's Word, a message that is as timeless as it is timely. It is a message that speaks to the very core of our being, to the deepest longings of our hearts, and to the most pressing needs of our lives.

Our text for today comes from the wisdom-filled book of Proverbs, chapter 3, verses 5-6. Here, the inspired writer of Scripture, under the guidance of the Holy Spirit, gives us a profound and powerful command, a command that is accompanied by a promise. Let's hear these words together:

"Trust in the LORD with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding; in all your ways submit to him, and he will make your paths straight."

What a remarkable passage! What a challenging command! What an amazing promise! Trusting God with all our hearts, turning to Him for support, and treating Him as the Director of our paths.

Trusting God with All Our Hearts

When we talk about trust, we're talking about something that's fundamental to every relationship. It's the bedrock upon which all healthy relationships are built. Without trust, relationships crumble. And the same is true in our relationship with God. Trusting God is not an optional extra in the Christian life; it's an essential ingredient. It's not something we can do half-heartedly; it's something we must do whole-heartedly.

The writer of Proverbs tells us to trust in the Lord with all our hearts. Not just a part of our hearts. Not just the bits of our hearts that we're comfortable handing over to God. But all our hearts. Every single part. The parts that are full of joy and the parts that are full of pain. The parts that are strong and the parts that are weak. All of it. Every single bit.

But what does it mean to trust God with all our hearts? It means to rely on Him completely. To depend on Him fully. To lean on Him entirely. It means to put all our hope, all our faith, all our confidence in Him. It means to believe that He is who He says He is, and that He will do what He says He will do.

And this kind of trust is not a matter of sitting back and letting God do all the work. It's a matter of actively seeking Him, of pursuing Him, of desiring Him above all else. It's a matter of making Him the center of our lives, the focus of our attention, the object of our affection.

But trusting God with all our hearts can be downright difficult. It can be hard to trust God when life is tough, when things are not going our way, when we're facing trials and tribulations. But even in the midst of our struggles, even in the midst of our pain, even in the midst of our fear, we can still trust God. We can still rely on Him. We can still depend on Him. We can still lean on Him. Why? Because He is trustworthy. Because He is faithful!
