Treasures Of The Snow

Job 38:22 “Hast thou entered into the treasures of the snow ?.......”

Snow Sayings.....

Name of Snow Couple....Willy Melt & Betty Will

Snow kids are a chip off the old block.

A Snowman is a perfect man....well-rounded, and with his own broom.

How are snowmen and real men alike.........they are all flaky !

Know what the snowman said as the thermometer started to climb ?.......I’m losing my head !

And finally....what did the snowman say when he fell over........I used to be snow white, but I drifted !

I don’t know if people who live where it snows often, and alot would consider snow as a treasure, yet the Bible says that there are treasures in the snow. I could have waited til it snowed to preach this message, but then I might not ever get to preach it, or I can preach this message in hopes of it snowing. Personally, I like snow. Perhaps, it because I’m still a kid at heart. I’ve always told children that I’m around that when I grow up I want to be a kid !

There are lessons that God would have us to learn from the snow.....there are treasures in the snow that God would have us to see.

1. Snow is a treasure because of it’s provider.

Psa 148:8

Fire, and hail; snow, and vapor; stormy wind fulfilling his word:

The word “treasure” can also be translated as “storehouse”.

It carrys with it the idea of God storing up snow, and dispenses it at his choosing.

Scientists tell us that snowflakes are actually born in clouds containing moisture. The conditions must be just right for this to take place. The temperature must be well below the freezing point of water. Tiny snow crystals are formed, and as they get heavier they begin to fall, and as they fall they get larger because they pick up more moisture in the atmosphere. Who controls the conditions in the atmosphere.....who created the clouds that act as the storehouse......who dispenses the snow at his choosing ? If God is in control of the snow, and if God can dispense the snow upon the earth....cannot he dispense all the things in life that we need ?

Jam 1:17 Every good gift and every perfect gift is from above, and cometh down from the Father of lights, with whom is no variableness, neither shadow of turning.

2. Snow is a treasure because of it’s peculiarity.

Did you know that there are many different shapes of snowflakes ? There are 10 general categories that snowflakes fall into. Under a microscope you could see some that are like needles....some like stars.....some like trees......some look like fishbones......some look like bullets......yet here is the amazing thing about them. No two snowflakes are exactly the same.

Snowflakes have their own shape.....their own identity. They each or unique.

People are like the snow in this respect. Of the billions of people upon the earth now.....and those who walked here previously, and those who will be born into the world....there is not nor ever have their been.....two people just a like. We have similarities......but we each have distinct characteristics that separate us from everyone else. Our fingerprints are unique. Our footprints unique. The pattern of even our eyeballs are unique from anyone elses. What does this say about God and us ?

a. Like snow we have a designer.

We are a thing of value. We are special. We have a creator that knew us before we were formed in the womb, and who knit us together distinctly from all others before us !

b. Like snow we have a distinction.

We are not only distinct in the way that we look, but God has a distinct purpose for each one of our lives.

c. Like snow we have a destiny.

Snow has more of a purpose than just to grace our landscape with beauty.

We can see God’s purpose even in the smallest of things........surely God has a purpose for our lives !

3. Snow is a treasure because of it’s purity.

Psa 51:7 Purge me with hyssop, and I shall be clean: wash me, and I shall be whiter than snow.

Snow has a powerful cleansing effect on the atmosphere....sometimes called “wash-out or snow-out”

Snow is actually formed around some matter already existing in the atmosphere....a piece of dirt......mica

Isa. 1:18 Come now, and let us reason together, saith the LORD: though your sins be as scarlet, they shall be as white as snow; though they be red like crimson, they shall be as wool.

a. We have been corrupted by sin.

b. We cannot conceal the stain.

c. We can be cleaner than snow.

4. Snow is a treasure because of it’s productivity.

Pro 25:13 As the cold of snow in the time of harvest, so is a faithful messenger to them that send him: for he refresheth the soul of his masters.
