1. Finding Strength in God

Philippians 4:13 (NLT): "For I can do everything through Christ, who gives me strength."

Paul, writing from prison, declares his ability to endure all circumstances through Christ who strengthens him. The Greek word for "strengthens" is "??d??aµ??" (endynamoo), meaning to empower or fill with strength.

Psalm 62:8 (NLT): "O my people, trust in him at all times. Pour out your heart to him, for God is our refuge."

David encourages us to trust God completely and to confide in Him. The Hebrew word for "refuge" is "???????" (machseh), indicating a place of safety and protection.

Just as Paul found strength in Christ, we too can find our strength and refuge in God by trusting Him wholeheartedly.

Consider the story of Corrie ten Boom, who, during her time in a Nazi concentration camp, drew her strength from Christ. Despite the horrors she faced, she proclaimed, "There is no pit so deep, that God’s love is not deeper still."

This psalm reassures us of God's constant presence and readiness to support us. The word "refuge" again underscores God as a secure place.

In moments of distress, we should remember that God is always ready to help and provide the strength we need.

A father once asked his young daughter to jump into his arms from a high ledge. Though afraid, she trusted her father and jumped. Likewise, we must trust God completely, knowing He will catch and support us.

Embracing trials with joy is possible when we understand that Jesus has already overcome the world and our trials are temporary.

Helen Keller, blind and deaf from a young age, viewed her disabilities as opportunities to discover God's strength and purpose. She said, "Although the world is full of suffering, it is also full of the overcoming of it."
