Summary: This sermon is to express the importance of being a Christ - like friend to others in need.

“A true friend is he who listens to your deepest

sorrows.

A true friend is like toothpaste, when it is put under

pressure, it appears!”

You are not forced to be a friend, but we are to be examples of Christ. Proverbs 17:17 says: “A friend loves at all times and a brother is born for adversity.” Love at all times and you will be loved. What you sow is what you reap. Today, plant that seed of friendship in someone, but don’t do it hypocritically. Do it with sincerity and love. I had

been asking the Lord for a best friend since September 21, 1996 and that prayer request of which I called my heart’s desire has finally been answered. There were times of which I thought God had finally answered, but I was proven wrong. Finally, when I thought he had turned His face from that prayer and that He had answered it, “No,” He proved to me that when He answers prayers, He doesn’t only answer them, but does it in abundance. May God bless my best friend, Orlando P. Tijerina, right where you’re at "pompbuddy". I love you, man. Not just because we haven’t interacted means I’ve forgotten about you. For many years I sowed friendship and for several reaped the opposite, but when I finally reaped friendship, it was genuine and full of “God stuff”! There are people who have perfect smiles, but deep inside, their hearts are bleeding. Right now, let the Spirit guide you and go to someone whom you will help heal and start mending his or her heart in Jesus’ Name. Proverbs 18:24 says: “There are friends who pretend to be friends, but there is a friend that sticks closer than a brother.” Stop pretending to be a friend only when you feel happy or peaceful. Jesus stayed faithful until the end, during the worst pain any human could ever have, at Calvary and as he was walking down the Via Dolorosa. Just be a true friend. There are people around you that wonder if that friendly love will ever come to them. I, myself, was one of them, and today, I challenge you to prove them wrong. Like Brother Bear said, “Prove them that the love and friendship that God gave us in you." Now, I urge you to go that person of which the Spirit guides you to, and tell them you came just “to be there”. Come on. Go.
