Through The Promises Of Jesus 2nd Coming Series
Contributed by Michael Mccartney on Dec 28, 2019 (message contributor)
Summary: Joy is found in believing the Promises of God from the Bible and as we progress to the New Year there is a sense of expectation about the future for most. But there should also be an expectation and excitement about the possibility of Jesus second coming in 2020.

Series: Find Joy in the Journey in 2019
Thesis of series: Joy needs to be experienced in the journey of life! But Joy, like any other attitude, can come and go. It is not guaranteed simply because we are born again believers. We must put ourselves in the places where experiencing joy is a possibility.
Scripture: Romans 15:13: “May the God of hope fill you with all joy and peace as you trust in him, so that you may overflow with hope by the power of the Holy Spirit.”
I pray this year that you discovered that there is joy in the journey of life when we do it with Jesus! How many have liked this series we did this year?
Final Sermon: Find Joy in the Journey through God’s Promise of the Second Coming!
Thesis: Joy is found in believing the Promises of God from the Bible and as we progress to the New Year there is a sense of expectation about the future for most. But there should also be an expectation and excitement about the possibility of Jesus second coming in 2020.
Scripture Text:
2 Peter 1:3-4 (The CEV - The Promise): We have everything we need to live a life that pleases God. It was all given to us by God’s own power, when we learned that he had invited us to share in his wonderful goodness. God made great and marvelous promises, so that his nature would become part of us. Then we could escape our evil desires and the corrupt influences of this world.
T.S. - Grabbing a hold of God’s Promises should help us lead a life that pleases God. Which in turn makes us ready for the Promise of Jesus’ 2nd coming. I was thinking about this last message of the year and I thought if this was my last sermon to you what should you know – what should be my last message to you? The answer for me was simple – “Jesus is coming back” – this message is a promise from Jesus and from God’s Holy Word. Let’s listen to some of the Scripture promises about this future event:
Jesus said:
Matthew 24:27: “The coming of the Son of Man will be like lightning that can be seen from east to west.”
Matthew 24:36: “But concerning that day and hour no one knows, not even the angels of heaven, nor the Son, but the Father only.”
Revelation 22:7; 12-13: 7 “Behold, I am coming soon! Blessed is he who keeps the words of the prophecy in this book.”… 12 “Behold, I am coming soon! My reward is with me, and I will give to everyone according to what he has done. 13 I am the Alpha and the Omega, the First and the Last, the Beginning and the End.
Scripture reveals:
Revelation 1:7: ““Look, he is coming with the clouds,” and “every eye will see him, even those who pierced him”; and all peoples on earth “will mourn because of him.” So, shall it be! Amen.”
1 Thessalonians 5:1-11:
“Now, brothers and sisters, about times and dates we do not need to write to you, for you know very well that the day of the Lord will come like a thief in the night. While people are saying, “Peace and safety,” destruction will come on them suddenly, as labor pains on a pregnant woman, and they will not escape. But you, brothers and sisters, are not in darkness so that this day should surprise you like a thief. You are all children of the light and children of the day. We do not belong to the night or to the darkness. So then, let us not be like others, who are asleep, but let us be awake and sober. For those who sleep, sleep at night, and those who get drunk, get drunk at night. But since we belong to the day, let us be sober, putting on faith and love as a breastplate, and the hope of salvation as a helmet. For God did not appoint us to suffer wrath but to receive salvation through our Lord Jesus Christ. He died for us so that, whether we are awake or asleep, we may live together with him. Therefore encourage one another and build each other up, just as in fact you are doing.”

Introduction:
The promise of Scripture – the last message of 2019 for CHC is “Jesus is coming back!” I have never seen those words on the front page of the newspaper! I pray I do one day!

But here are some headlines that actually ran on the front page of American newspapers. Please note I am not making these up:
