Three People God Doesn’t Know

Intro: The story of “The Showing of Love

I. God Doesn’t know a Sinner He can’t love (John 8:1-11)

- Story of “A Father’s Love”

- The Pharisees feigned concern for the law and for Jesus as a Rabi

- They called Him master even though they denied it earlier

- This was not really about the woman caught in adultery

a. V.6 says they did this to test Him

b. They did not also bring the man she was with

c. They walked away because of their own guilt according to (Deuteronomy chapters 13 and 17)

- The adulterous woman was a pawn to be used to further their agenda

- Jesus did not let them railroad her that way

- Jesus protected the adulterous woman (who was weak) from the Pharisees and Satan

- He did not excuse her sin but loved her in the midst of it

- (Rom 5:8 but God shows his love for us in that while we were still sinners, Christ died for us.)

- Truth is we are all caught in our sins just as the adulterous woman was

- While this woman was in the middle of her sin Jesus just loved her

II. Jesus doesn’t know a sinner He can’t forgive. (Luke 23: 33-38)

- The story of “Nobody to forgive me”

- (Act 13:27 For those who live in Jerusalem and their rulers, because they did not recognize him nor understand the utterances of the prophets, which are read every Sabbath, fulfilled them by condemning him.

- Act 13:28 And though they found in him no guilt worthy of death, they asked Pilate to have him executed.)

- There is the truth that on some level these people did not really know what it was they were doing.

- They certainly understood what the outcome of their demands were

- (Mat_27:25 And all the people answered, "His blood be on us and on our children!")

- Picture yourself looking down from the cross

- While these people were in the middle of their sin Jesus cried out for their forgiveness

III. God doesn’t know a sinner He can’t save. (Luke 23:39-43)

- The story of “The Mother who died to save her baby”

- The story now turns it focus away from the crowd and narrows in on one man

- This thief who hung next to Jesus

- God is often referred to as the 11th hour God

- Only because it seems to us sometimes that He comes through in answering our prayer at the last minute.

- This thief was in the last few minutes of his own life and he asks God for salvation

- In this one example expresses all my points today

- This thief was in the middle of his sin

- Jesus loved him, forgave him, and saved him

- There is no sin that takes you too far past Jesus love

- There is no sin that takes you too far past Jesus forgiveness

- There is no sin that takes you too far past Jesus salvation

- It can never be said I am too much of a sinner

- There is no place in time that is too far past Jesus love

- There is no place in time that is too far past Jesus forgiveness

- There is no place in time that is too far past Jesus salvation

- It can never be said it is too late for me.

- Jesus hung on that cross for the thief who railed on Him the same as he did the one who adored Him.

- When it comes to salvation there is no comparing ourselves to someone else.

- The person sitting next to you gets no more opportunity than you do
