Three Bible Facts About Life Storms
Acts 27:13-44
I. Life’s Storms Are Times of Despair
A. Storms Surprise Due to Deception (v. 13)
Storms Surprise Us Due To:
• Faulty theology – John 6:33, Job 14:1
• Faulty advice – Acts 27:11
• Faulty security – Proverbs 3:5-6
B. Storms Often cause a sense of looming disaster (v. 14-17)
1. Because we feel life is out of our control
2. Because we feel overwhelmed
C. Storms lead to a sense of desperation (v. 20)
1. Desperation may lead to a sense of hopelessness
2. Desperation may cause you to look up
II. Life’s Storm’s Are Times of Decision
A. There are basic decisions to be made in the midst of the storm
1. We must prepare ourselves (v. 17a)
2. We must discard what does not belong (v. 18-19)
B. There is the danger of making wrong decisions
1. The decision to lose hope in God (v. 20b)
2. The decision to live outside of God (v. 30-31)
III. Life’s Storm’s Are times of Deliverance
A. Deliverance Begins With Being Anchored (V.29)
1. The Anchor of God’s Presence (v. 23)
“..lo I AM with you until the end of the age.” - Matt. 28:20
2. The Anchor of God’s Promises (v. 24-25)
Bible Promises of God:
• The promise of Brighter Days – Psalm 30:5
• The promise of Deliverance – Psalm 34:19
• The promise of Everything is for our good – Romans 8:28
• The promise of divine grace – II Cor. 12:9
3. The Anchor of God’s Providence (v. 24)
4. The Anchor of God’s Performance (v. 44)
B. Deliverance Comes Through Accepting and Waiting (v. 33-44)
1. In accepting the storm we can begin to submit
“..humble yourselves under the mighty hand of God, that He may exalt you in due time” – I Peter 5:6
2. In waiting we will see God move us beyond the storm
