The Words Of Jesus

Jesus must have spoken many words, but those recorded in Matthew, Mark, Luke, John, Acts, and Revelation are for our application.

We should believe, obey, apply, and live the words that Jesus spoke.

Matthew 4:4 - But He answered and said, “It is written, ‘Man shall not live by bread alone, but by every Word that proceeds from the mouth of God.’

Luke 2:49 - And He said to them, “Why did you seek Me? Did you not know that I must be about My Father’s business?”

The words of man

1. The words of man are lies

John 8:44 - You are of your father the devil, and the desires of your father you want to do. He was a murderer from the beginning, and does not stand in the truth, because there is no truth in him. When he speaks a lie, he speaks from his own resources, for he is a liar and the father of it.

2. The words of man are not sincere or serious

Luke 24:11 - And their words seemed to them like idle tales, and they did not believe them.

Ephesians 5:4 - Neither filthiness, nor foolish talking, nor coarse jesting, which are not fitting, but rather giving of thanks.

3. The words of man are inconsistent

1 Corinthians 14:33 - For God is not the author of confusion but of peace, as in all the churches of the saints.

The words of Jesus are like no other words

The words of Jesus are life

John 6:63 - It is the Spirit who gives life; the flesh profits nothing. The words that I speak to you are spirit, and they are life.

Jesus is the Word
