Scripture

Isaiah 2:6-22

Introduction

Could we face the same fate as the Nation of Israel did, as recorded in the Book of Isaiah?

Is God sending a message to us?

Isaiah 2:6-8

The LORD has rejected the people of Israel because they have made alliances with foreigners from the East who practice magic and divination, just like the Philistines.

As a nation, as a culture, as a people, have we not embraced those that laugh at God!

As a nation, as a culture, as a people, have we not embraced that practice of magic and deviation!

As a nation, as a culture, as a people, have we not cheapened the value of life!

As a nation, as a culture, as a people, have we not made partnerships with countries and individuals that make a mockery of God!

As a nation, as a culture, as a people, have we not taken prayer out of our schools and are trying to band the Ten Commandments in any public place! At the same time have we not given government grants to those that practice the worship other gods!

Anything that you do, say, or think that does not align up with the word of God, is against God.

As a nation, as a culture, as a people, have we not taken the teachings of Christ out of the classroom, but embraced the teaching of the world! That is the teaching that goes against the Word of God.

7Israel has vast treasures of silver and gold and many horses and chariots. 8The land is filled with idols.

As a nation, as a culture, as a people, has there not been a rapped increase of pagan temples being built!

Do we not see them even in the midst of our own county?

As a nation, as a culture, as a people, has not the fascination with the occult increased!

The people bow down and worship these things they have made.

As a nation, as a culture, as a people, have we not bragged on how great we are, and no one would ever attack us!

We have the greatest military.

We have the greatest security.

We have the greatest nation.

We have the greatest buildings.

We are in control.

We don’t need God; we can take care of ourselves.

God has not called us to hate those that worship other gods, but he has called us to be a witness to them.

We must remember what Jesus said in: John 8:23 And He said to them, "You are from beneath; I am from above. You are of this world; I am not of this world.

We can love those that worship other gods, but we must not embrace them or their gods.

I believe that God may have just begun the shaking of America!

All of this rings out gloom and doom, but there is hope.

There are some things that can’t be shaken.

1. The Sovereignty of God

1 John 1:9

But if we confess our sins to him, he is faithful and just to forgive us and to cleanse us from every wrong.

Romans 14:11

For the Scriptures say, As surely as I live, says the Lord, every knee will bow to me and every tongue will confess allegiance to God.

2. The Unshakable Kingdom of God

We need to receive the Kingdom of God that cannot be shaken.

We need to tell others of the Kingdom of God that cannot be shaken.

As Christians could we be like the little boy that was asked by his mom, why he was sad. He replied that he had been playing hooky from school all day and just found out that it was Saturday.

Are we playing hooky from God?

Are we running so hard away from serving God?

Are we going to be like the little boy and realize that all of our efforts to skirt the issue of serving God were in vain?

Are we going to wish we had been faithful and obedient to him?

Do we have the attitude that we’re just going to wait and see what shakes out?

I believe the shaking has begun!

What are you going to do about it?

3. An Acceptable (Meaningful) Worship

God has set aside that which he has created, to serve him and worship him.

We need to present ourselves before God approved.

1 Thessalonians 2:4

But as we have been approved by God to be entrusted with the gospel, even so we speak, not as pleasing men, but God who tests our hearts.

2 Timothy 2:15

Be diligent to present yourself approved to God, a worker who does not need to be ashamed, rightly dividing the word of truth.
