Summary: Where is the source of our Strength in God? It comes from Joy, and that Joy comes from hearing the uncompromised Word of God and allowing it to have an impact upon our hearts and lives. Without the Truth of the Word, there can be no Joy and strength.

The True Source of Your Spiritual Strength

By Rev. James May

We are living in a time when there seems to be a great lack of strength in the hearts of men. Everywhere you turn you can see the prophetic words of Jesus coming to pass and I am reminded of what Jesus said would be happening just prior to his Second Coming.

Luke 21:25 And there shall be signs in the sun, and in the moon, and in the stars; and upon the earth distress of nations, with perplexity; the sea and the waves roaring;

Luke 21:26 Men's hearts failing them for fear, and for looking after those things which are coming on the earth: for the powers of heaven shall be shaken.

Just a glance at the daily news is all it takes to understand that these scriptures are surely coming to pass. With Russia flexing its muscle once again, invading old territory with the intent of annexation back into the Soviet Union, shooting down civilian jetliners in order to make a statement that they can do as they please and get away with it; with Israel and Hamas in an all-out war in the Gaza Strip; with America and the rest of the Free World sitting back like paper tigers, afraid to get involved and becoming the laughingstock of the world; and with our own nation so deep in trouble that the very fabric of our society is beginning to unravel and the growing threat of a civil uprising, and rebellion against our government, folks we are living on the very brink of a worldwide collapse of unparalleled proportions.

Yet God, in his infinite mercy and great grace, is still reaching out to those who will hear his voice and call upon his name. God desires to save all men, and I for one, am so glad that He has called my name. My joy comes from knowing that I am His and that He is mine. My strength comes from that joy of being filled with the power of the Holy Spirit and having the eternal life of God already dwelling in my soul. The Joy of the Lord is my Strength! Because of Jesus, we can face tomorrow without fear! Because of his great Love, we can know that he holds our tomorrow in the palm of his hand and that He will never let us fall.

But how can we know this great Joy? From what source in life do we gain the understanding and knowledge of what this Joy is and how we can obtain it for ourselves? There has to be a source, and it has to be a source that all men can access, or else God would not be fair to all men. It’s no secret! It’s as plain as the nose on your face! That Joy comes from serving the Lord! That joy comes from knowing that Christ is in you and He is your hope of eternal glory and the resurrection life. That Joy comes from learning of his Love for you and the provision that Jesus has made for the salvation of your soul! But where is that source for having all of this knowledge? What is the true Source of your Strength in God?

There are so many Christians today who are living in doubt, fear and unbelief! They’ve forsaken the Source of their Strength and embraced the wisdom of men instead. They’ve allowed their well to run dry, and there is no more spiritual water daily washing over their souls. They’ve allowed Satan to dry up the source of their strength and they ignored their spiritually dead and dry condition for so long that they’ve forgotten what it truly feels like to have the Joy of the Lord, and when that Joy is gone, so is our peace and so is our commitment to the Lord. And with the loss of that Joy, peace and commitment to Christ, also we lose our entrance into the eternal kingdom.

This is no time to play around with the things of God! This is the time to get serious in your relationship with the Lord. Jesus is coming soon, very soon, and we must be preparing for his coming or prepare yourself to face the worst nightmare that you could ever imagine. I cannot stress enough, just how close we are to that day. It’s going to either be a day of great joy, or a day of absolute sorrow. Let’s be on the side of Joy, for the Lord has promised us that “though sorrow may last for the night and the times of great darkness as it settles upon the land and the hearts of men, that JOY COMES IN THE MORNING!”

Yet, what we are experiencing now, is just the tip of the iceberg so to speak, for there are some very troublesome times coming. When you think of all of the tragedies, famines, wars and great calamities that have stricken this world throughout history, and then think of what these last days are going to bring to pass, it is no wonder then that men’s hearts are growing weaker and their strength is waning. The Bible tells us that the last days of earth’s history in this present age will bring such trouble upon the earth that it will be the worst the world has ever seen or will ever see. Surely there are many dark days ahead for mankind who continually spurns the love of God and refuses to serve the Lord.
