Summary: This is the fourth message in a series of seven that deals with the attitudes of the seven churches of Revelation.

The Thyatira Attitude

Rev. 2:18-29

I. The Positives to Be Noticed (v. 18-19)

A. They were reminded of the Power of Christ (v. 18-19a)

1. Reminded that He was the Son of God

2. Reminded that He knew the intentions of their heart & mind

3. Reminded that He was the Judge of all

B. They seemingly had the right attitude (v. 19b)

1. They were loving (love)

2. They were serving (service)

3. They were enduring (patience)

4. They were consistent (faith)

C. They were a busy church (v. 19a &19c)

II. The Negative to Be Exposed (v. 20-23)

A. The heresy they endorsed (v. 20)

1. They willingly allowed the wrong leadership

2. They willingly allowed destructive doctrine

3. They willingly became participants

B. God’s Grace is extended (v. 21-22)

1. He allowed them time to repent (II Tim 2:25)

2. He desired a specific repentance

“…repent of her sexual immorality…” – v. 22c

C. God’s Judgment is Very Real (v. 23)

1. God will not tolerate unchecked sin

2. God will judge to reveal His power and authority

“…and all the churches will know that I am He who searches the minds and hearts…” – v. 23

III. The Encouragement to the Faithful (v. 24-29)

A. They are encouraged to stay true in doctrine (v. 24)

1. As a church we must hold to sound doctrine

2. As individuals we must learn and defend sound doctrine

B. They are encouraged to look ahead (v. 25-28)

1. Look ahead to the coming of the Lord

2. Look ahead to our reward

3. Look ahead to being in His presence

C. They are encouraged to listen (v. 29)
