The Sword Of The Spirit
Eph 6:10-20
10 Finally, my brethren, be strong in the Lord, and in the power of his might.
11 Put on the whole armour of God, that ye may be able to stand against the wiles of the devil.
12 For we wrestle not against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this world, against spiritual wickedness in high places.
13 Wherefore take unto you the whole armour of God, that ye may be able to withstand in the evil day, and having done all, to stand.
14 Stand therefore, having your loins girt about with truth, and having on the breastplate of righteousness;
15 And your feet shod with the preparation of the gospel of peace;
16 Above all, taking the shield of faith, wherewith ye shall be able to quench all the fiery darts of the wicked.
17 And take the helmet of salvation, and the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God:
18 Praying always with all prayer and supplication in the Spirit, and watching thereunto with all perseverance and supplication for all saints;
19 And for me, that utterance may be given unto me, that I may open my mouth boldly, to make known the mystery of the gospel,
20 For which I am an ambassador in bonds: that therein I may speak boldly, as I ought to speak. (KJV)
As Born Again Believers, we must be strong. Strong in the Lord & in the Power of His Might!
Basically what I’m saying is that we must be strong Spiritually. As Christians, the battle that we’re fighting is not a physical warfare but a spiritual warfare.
12 For we wrestle not against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this world, against spiritual wickedness in high places.

Why must I wear the armor of God?
In order to stand against the wiles of the devil.
What is the armor of God?
1.Loins girt about with truth.
As Christians we should be drenched in the truth. We should be like the Word of God that never lies.
2.Breastplate of Righteousness.
Not our own, but God’s.
Isa 64:6
6 But we are all as an unclean thing, and all our righteousnesses are as filthy rags; and we all do fade as a leaf; and our iniquities, like the wind, have taken us away. (KJV)
Phil 3:9
9 And be found in him, not having mine own righteousness, which is of the law, but that which is through the faith of Christ, the righteousness which is of God by faith: (KJV)
3.Feet Shod With the Preparation of the Gospel of Peace.
Be prepared to take the Gospel to those who need to hear it.
Isa 52:7
7 How beautiful on the mountains are the feet of the messenger who brings good news, the good news of peace and salvation, the news that the God of Israel reigns! (NLT)
4.The Shield of Faith.
Rom 10:17
17 So then faith cometh by hearing, and hearing by the word of God (KJV)
5.The Helmet of Salvation.
You must be saved!
6.The Sword of the Spirit, The Word of God.
This is what we want to talk about. The sword of the Spirit, the Word of God. It is our only offensive weapon.
It is very important, as Christians, that we study the Word of God. We are told over & again to study the Word; to meditate on it; to hide it in our hearts.
Why?
There are many different reasons, but the one that we want to look at tonight is to fight against the enemy
We should quote the Word of God (Rhema) in our times of temptation & it will cut to pieces the snares of the enemy.
When Jesus was tempted by the devil, He used the Word to fight him off.
Stone to Bread
Deut 8:3
3 And he humbled thee, and suffered thee to hunger, and fed thee with manna, which thou knewest not, neither did thy fathers know; that he might make thee know that man doth not live by bread only, but by every word that proceedeth out of the mouth of the Lord doth man live. (KJV)
Jump off the Temple
Deut 6:16
16 Ye shall not tempt the Lord your God, as ye tempted him in Massah.
(KJV)
Bow down to me…
Deut 10:20
20 Thou shalt fear the Lord thy God; him shalt thou serve, and to him shalt thou cleave, and swear by his name. (KJV)
For the Christian, the Word of God is possibly the most important part of the armor.
But Pastor, vs. 16 says, “Above all, taking the shield of faith…”
