Num 13:25 And they returned from searching of the land after forty days.
Num 13:26 And they went and came to Moses, and to Aaron, and to all the congregation of the children of Israel, unto the wilderness of Paran, to Kadesh; and brought back word unto them, and unto all the congregation, and shewed them the fruit of the land.
Num 13:27 And they told him, and said, We came unto the land whither thou sentest us, and surely it floweth with milk and honey; and this is the fruit of it.
Num 13:28 Nevertheless the people be strong that dwell in the land, and the cities are walled, and very great: and moreover we saw the children of Anak there. (to choke)
Num 13:29 The Amalekites (they were wicked, oppressive, cruel) dwell in the land of the south: and the Hittites, ( terror , to breakdown by confusion & fear, to discourage) and the Jebusites,( to trample & tread over) and the Amorites, ( to talk against, to challenge) dwell in the mountains: and the Canaanites (humiliation) dwell by the sea, and by the coast of Jordan.
Num 13:30 And Caleb stilled the people before Moses, and said, Let us go up at once, and possess it; for we are well able to overcome it.
Num 13:31 But the men that went up with him said, We be not able to go up against the people; for they are stronger than we.
Num 13:32 And they brought up an evil report of the land which they had searched unto the children of Israel, saying, The land, through which we have gone to search it, is a land that eateth up the inhabitants thereof; and all the people that we saw in it are men of a great stature.
Num 13:33 And there we saw the giants, the sons of Anak, which come of the giants: and we were in our own sight as grasshoppers, and so we were in their sight.
We are looking at the children of Israel who fail to take possession of their inheritance, not because it was not available but because they were not willing to confront their adversaries to get it.
God was angry at the rebellious self preserving Israelites, but he took a great deal of pleasure in one named Caleb.
Num 14:21-24
21 But as truly as I live, all the earth shall be filled with the glory of the LORD.
22 Because all those men which have seen my glory, and my miracles, which I did in Egypt and in the wilderness, and have tempted me now these ten times, and have not hearkened to my voice;
23 Surely they shall not see the land which I sware unto their fathers, neither shall any of them that provoked me see it:
24 (But my servant Caleb), because he had another spirit with him, and hath followed me fully, him will I bring into the land whereinto he went; and his seed shall possess it. He had a different attitude understanding and focus than the multitude
(KJV)
We are living in Perilous times, Tempestuous times, times of uncertainty times of struggle. (We might as well just say it: (We are at war) It shouldn’t surprise us).
The bible tells us of these times:
2 Tim 3:1-5
1 This know also, that in the last days perilous times shall come.
2 For men shall be lovers of their own selves, covetous, boasters, proud, blasphemers, disobedient to parents, unthankful, unholy,
3 Without natural affection, trucebreakers, false accusers, incontinent, fierce, despisers of those that are good,
4 Traitors, heady, highminded, lovers of pleasures more than lovers of God;
5 Having a form of godliness, but denying the power thereof: from such turn away. (KJV)
And again
Mat 24:6 And ye shall hear of wars and rumors of wars: see that ye be not troubled: for all these things must come to pass,
It’s not just war in the physical sense but it is war in the spiritual realm as well.
The natural is a mirror of the spiritual, Just as 9-11 signaled a change in the intensity and focus of our natural adversaries it is also true in the spirit.
We are at war and now is the time for Men and women of God to step to the forefront and be the Men and Women of Valor and might that God has called us to be.
Now is the time for that spirit of Caleb that God called (another spirit)
to rise up.
Joel 3:9 Proclaim ye this among the Gentiles; Prepare war, wake up the mighty men, let all the men of war draw near; let them come up: 10 Beat your plowshares into swords, and your pruninghooks into spears: let the weak say, I am strong.
