Num 13:25 And they returned from searching of the land after forty days.
Num 13:26 And they went and came to Moses, and to Aaron, and to all the congregation of the children of Israel, unto the wilderness of Paran, to Kadesh; and brought back word unto them, and unto all the congregation, and shewed them the fruit of the land.
Num 13:27 And they told him, and said, We came unto the land whither thou sentest us, and surely it floweth with milk and honey; and this is the fruit of it.
Num 13:28 Nevertheless the people be strong that dwell in the land, and the cities are walled, and very great: and moreover we saw the children of Anak there. (to choke)
Num 13:29 The Amalekites (they were wicked, oppressive, cruel) dwell in the land of the south: and the Hittites, ( terror , to breakdown by confusion & fear, to discourage) and the Jebusites,( to trample & tread over) and the Amorites, ( to talk against, to challenge) dwell in the mountains: and the Canaanites (humiliation) dwell by the sea, and by the coast of Jordan.
Num 13:30 And Caleb stilled the people before Moses, and said, Let us go up at once, and possess it; for we are well able to overcome it.
Num 13:31 But the men that went up with him said, We be not able to go up against the people; for they are stronger than we.
Num 13:32 And they brought up an evil report of the land which they had searched unto the children of Israel, saying, The land, through which we have gone to search it, is a land that eateth up the inhabitants thereof; and all the people that we saw in it are men of a great stature.
Num 13:33 And there we saw the giants, the sons of Anak, which come of the giants: and we were in our own sight as grasshoppers, and so we were in their sight.
We are looking at the children of Israel who fail to take possession of their inheritance, not because it was not available but because they were not willing to confront their adversaries to get it.
God was angry at the rebellious self preserving Israelites, but he took a great deal of pleasure in one named Caleb.
Num 14:21-24
21 But as truly as I live, all the earth shall be filled with the glory of the LORD.
22 Because all those men which have seen my glory, and my miracles, which I did in Egypt and in the wilderness, and have tempted me now these ten times, and have not hearkened to my voice;
23 Surely they shall not see the land which I sware unto their fathers, neither shall any of them that provoked me see it:
24 (But my servant Caleb), because he had another spirit with him, and hath followed me fully, him will I bring into the land whereinto he went; and his seed shall possess it. He had a different attitude understanding and focus than the multitude
(KJV)
We are living in Perilous times, Tempestuous times, times of uncertainty times of struggle. (We might as well just say it: (We are at war) It shouldn’t surprise us).
The bible tells us of these times:
2 Tim 3:1-5
1 This know also, that in the last days perilous times shall come.
2 For men shall be lovers of their own selves, covetous, boasters, proud, blasphemers, disobedient to parents, unthankful, unholy,
3 Without natural affection, trucebreakers, false accusers, incontinent, fierce, despisers of those that are good,
4 Traitors, heady, highminded, lovers of pleasures more than lovers of God;
5 Having a form of godliness, but denying the power thereof: from such turn away. (KJV)
And again
Mat 24:6 And ye shall hear of wars and rumors of wars: see that ye be not troubled: for all these things must come to pass,
It’s not just war in the physical sense but it is war in the spiritual realm as well.
The natural is a mirror of the spiritual, Just as 9-11 signaled a change in the intensity and focus of our natural adversaries it is also true in the spirit.
We are at war and now is the time for Men and women of God to step to the forefront and be the Men and Women of Valor and might that God has called us to be.
Now is the time for that spirit of Caleb that God called (another spirit)
to rise up.
Joel 3:9 Proclaim ye this among the Gentiles; Prepare war, wake up the mighty men, let all the men of war draw near; let them come up: 10 Beat your plowshares into swords, and your pruninghooks into spears: let the weak say, I am strong.
This scripture tells us that there are those who are of such quality of character and spiritual fiber that God refers to them as mighty
But they are asleep
Asleep a state of sleep, not attentive or alert, numb.
Sleep a condition of body and mind in which the nervous system is inactive, the eyes closed, the postural muscles relaxed, and consciousness practically suspended.
My Friend I don’t care how strong you are, how big and bad to the bone you are, (if you are asleep it counts for nothing).
You may be a potential superman, you may be able to pray heaven down, and blast hells gates off their hinges, You may have the bible memorized by chapters, and demons tremble when they hear your voice (But if you are asleep, You are no threat to the devil).
The tragedy of the hour that we live in, is not that mighty men & women of God are asleep ( They have drifted into a kind of a stupor, they are in a kind of a daze)
It’s like they can hear and see what’s going on around them, but it doesn’t register that it’s that bad.
What is it going to take for us to realize that it is that bad.
That we are in a state of war (That Satan is after our children, that everything that is good and decent is being perverted and twisted).
I’m not trying to promote fear and anxiety,
but I am trying to provoke people to reality, We are at war and it’s not with terrorists from another country, it’s with terrorists from another kingdom.
Sampson was awesome, when he was awake and the Spirit of the Lord was upon him, but while he slept the enemy shaved his head, and stripped him of his power, and gouged out his eyes and bound him.
I sense a cry of the Spirit to wake up the mighty men:
As in the verse I just read, I believe that many Mighty men and women of valor have quit fighting and went to farming, farming is good and there is a time for farming, but there is also a time for fighting.
And this is the time to beat our plowshares into swords, and our pruninghooks into spears, and to stand strong in the strength of the Lord.
I hear the spirit saying : Wake up the spirit of Caleb, and Wake up the Spirit of Joshua, and Wake up the spirit of Gideon, and Wake up the spirit of Daniel,
As in Calebs time there are Giants in the land
As in Gideons time there are invaders in the land
As in Daniels time there is pressure to conform and fit in, with a form of godliness that denies the power.
Do not say if we just lay real still and pretend like were not here that the enemy will go away, He will not. Like our natural adversary today, satan needs no action from you to provoke his actions, the fact is while we are pretending he is not there, he is stealing our children, wrecking our homes, and destroying countless lives.
I say to you: Wake up the spirit of Caleb
Lets look at some Characteristics in Caleb’s life that we desperately need in our lives today.
Nu 13: 30 And Caleb stilled the people before Moses, and said, Let us go up at once, and possess it; for we are well able to overcome it.
#1 He was a fighter: He would stand up and wage war against the prevailing spirit of unbelief and fear.
Caleb = (Forcible, attack,)
*The spirit of Caleb is the spirit of advancement; this spirit was so strong in Caleb that it showed up in his daughter
(Josh 15:18-19) Caleb said unto her, What wouldest thou? 19 Who answered, Give me a blessing; for thou hast given me a south land; give me also springs of water. And he gave her the upper springs, and the nether springs.
Caleb was awake, alert, prepared
Caleb was the son of Jephunneh (=) He will be prepared = (ever ready)
* Caleb was an encourager, (1) himself (2) others
* Caleb was faith motivated not fear motivated
* Caleb was Bold
(Prov 28:1) The wicked flee when no man pursueth: but the righteous are bold as a lion.
*Caleb had the spirit of Perseverance, for 40 years he held on to his promise.
*Caleb was not moved by peer pressure
Caleb was of the tribe of Judah (Judah = Praise, Celebrate)
Caleb = Forceful, Judah = Praise Jephunneh = He will be prepared (ever ready).
Jesus was of the tribe of Judah.
The point is: The spirit of Caleb is that of an ever ready prepared, forceful praise, and it is in the middle of this praise that that Jesus manifests himself.
(Psa 22:3 KJV) But thou art holy, O thou that inhabitest the praises of Israel.
Nu 14:24 But my servant Caleb, because he had another spirit with him, and hath followed me fully, him will I bring into the land whereinto he went; and his seed shall possess it.
(Num 14:30 ) Doubtless ye shall not come into the land, concerning which I sware to make you dwell therein, save Caleb the son of Jephunneh, and Joshua the son of Nun.
Read:
(Josh 14:10-14)
12 Now therefore give me this mountain, whereof the LORD spake in that day; for thou heardest in that day how the Anakims were there, and that the cities were great and fenced: if so be the LORD will be with me, then I shall be able to drive them out, as the LORD said.
(wake up the Spirit of Caleb).
Caleb was awake1
1 emerge or cause to emerge from a state of sleep; stop sleeping. ¢ become alert to or aware of. ¢ cause to stir or come to life.
Completely conscious, mentally perceptive. Watchful, alert, conscious, aware.
Life has a way of putting us to sleep, we lose our passion, We lose our vision
Sometimes we get the breath knocked out of us, Things happen and we get discouraged
Sometimes Things don’t happen and we get discouraged, When this happens our faith becomes weak and there is a tendency to slip into a kind of spiritual slumber or sleep.
I am convinced that we are at a critical point in time in the spiritual realm
I believe there has been a strong spirit of slumber that has fallen upon the church world,
And many believers have been in a sense just sleep walking through life.
We need the spirit of Caleb to rise up in the church today, The spirit of Boldness, and faith, patience and perseverance, commitment and obedience, and forceful prepared praise that goes before us into every struggle and conflict.
(Psa 150:6 KJV) Let every thing that hath breath praise the LORD. Praise ye the LORD.
Ro 13:11 And that, knowing the time, that now it is high time to awake out of sleep: for now is our salvation nearer than when we believed.
I know that there are still some mighty men and women of God in the church,
Let the Prophet’s wake up.
Let the Men and Women of God wake up.
Let the Church wake up
This is our hour, let us not sleep through it.
