Summary: The 4-D’s and evidence of being spirit-filled.
These verses give a very straight set of instructions for the Christian. We are to walk like, talk like, live like, and conduct ourselves like Christians. We represent Almighty God, the creator of the universe, the great I am, we are the ambassadors of Christ. Now the 4-D’s and evidence of being The Spirit-Filled Christian.
1. The spirit-filled Christian will be Devoted:
A. By Study: II Tim.2:15, "Study to shew thyself
approved unto God..."
Ps.119:11, "Thy word have I hid in my heart.."
Do you know the word of God? Have you hid the
word of God in your heart to be a better
prepared witness for Jesus? Because we are like
an epistle, an open book; read of all men.
B. BY Surrender: Rom.12:1-2, "I beseech you
therefore brethren..."
I Cor.6:19-20, "Know ye not that your body is
the temple of the Holy Ghost which is in you,
which ye have of God, and ye are not your own."
God may be the owner, but is He the possessor?
C. BY Separation: I Tim.5:22, "Lay hands suddenly
on no man, neither be partakers of other men’s
sins keep thyself pure."
II Cor.6:17, "Wherefore come out from among
them, and be ye separate, saith the Lord, and
touch not the unclean thing; and I will receive
you."
2. The spirit-filled Christian will be Dedicated:
A. By Loving God: Paul’s dedication to God caused
him to accept all the sufferings that came his
way, because he lived for Christ Jesus.
Paul received 40 stripes -1, 5 times.
Paul was beaten with a rod 3 times.
Paul was stoned and left for dead and dragged
outside the city, once.
Paul was shipwrecked 3 times.
Paul was jailed and imprisoned time and time
again, for the glory of God.
And in all this he counted it glory to suffer
for the name sake of Christ.
We say that we Love God, but does our actions
show it? Have we suffered unto blood? Have we
been imprisoned for our testimony? Have we lost
all, so that we can win souls to God? God help
us, we need to be and must be spirit-filled!
B. By Looking to God: We must keep our eyes on
Jesus (Peter walking on the water).
C. By Longing for God: Paul had 1 desire-to know
God. Phil.3:10 "That I may know Him, and the
power of His resurrection..."
3. The spirit-filled Christian will be Determined:
A. By Testimony: Paul counted the sufferings and
the problems as Joy, because they could not
move him or separate him from the Love of God
in Christ.
B. By Trials: Paul was determined to live for the
Lord regardless of the cost. He was happy to
endure all trials that would come.
Paul knew, Rom. 8:18, "..that the sufferings of
this present time are not worthy to be compared
to the glory that will be revealed in us."
4. The spirit-filled Christian will be Detained: There
must be a time of waiting before God in prayer.
A. Wait: Isa.40:31, " But they that wait upon the
Lord shall renew their strength; they shall
mount up with wings as Eagles..."
B. Plea to Pray: Men everywhere should pray.
I Thess.5:17, "Pray without ceasing."
C. Personal Prayer: Matt.6:6, "But thou, when thou
prayest, enter into thy closet..."
D. Powerful Prayer: James 5:16, "The effectual
fervent prayer of a righteousness man availeth
much."
E. Patient Prayers: Acts 1:2, "They prayed for ten
days." Wait on God!
F. Prevailing Prayer: P.U.S.H.
Pray until something happens.
Conclusion:
To be the spirit-filled Christian, is by the
design of God. Are you spirit-filled? Without the
spirit of God, you are bastards and not sons, you
are none of His.
