1. The Persecution of the Righteous: (verses 1,5,13. )
Gal 4:29 But as then he that was born after the flesh persecuted him that was born after the Spirit, even so it is now.
A. David’s Foe: verses 1-2 His Accusation Was - :
a. Damaging:(reputation) 3 O Lord my God, if I have done this;

2. The Protection of the Virtuous:
i. David's Prayer - 6 Arise, O Lord, in thine anger
His Provocation - lift up thyself because of the rage of mine enemies
His Protection - and awake for me to the judgment
His Promise - that thou hast commanded.
11 God judgeth the righteous,
and God is angry with the wicked every day.
ii. David's Protector - 10 “My defence is of God.”
1. The Lord’s Warning - 12 If he turn not,
2. The Lord’s Weapons - 13 instruments of death
12 he will whet his sword; he hath bent his bow, and made it ready.
13 He hath also prepared for him the instruments of death;
he ordaineth his arrows against the persecutors.
3. The Lord’s Warfare -
It is Righteous - 12 If he turn not,
It is Ready - 13 he hath bent his bow, and made it ready.
It is Reliable - he ordaineth his arrows against the persecutors.
This is not a random shot; but great care is given to the aim taken.
iii. David's Praise -
17 I will praise the Lord according to his righteousness: and will sing praise to the name of the Lord most high
3. The Prosecution of the Spurious
16 His mischief shall return upon his own head,
and his violent dealing shall come down upon his own pate.
Romans 12:19 Dearly beloved, avenge not yourselves, but rather give place unto wrath:
for it is written, Vengeance is mine; I will repay, saith the Lord.
Relationship - Dearly beloved
Restraint - avenge not yourselves
Resignation - rather give place unto wrath
Record - for it is written
Right - Vengeance is mine
Revenge - I will repay,
