Psalm 124: 1 “If it had not been for the Lord who was on our side, now may Israel say;

(124:2) “If it had not been the Lord who was on our side, when men rose up against us”.

(124:3) “When they had swallowed us up quick, when their wrath was kindled against us;

(124:4) “Then the waters had overwhelmed us, the stream had gone over our soul.”

(124:5) “Then the proud waters had gone over our soul.”

(124:6) Blessed be the Lord, who hath not given us as prey to their teeth.”

(124:7) Our soul escaped as a bird out of a snare of fowlers: the snare is broken, and we are escaped.”

(124:8) Our help is in the name of the Lord, who made the heaven and Earth…

Now go to Psalm 125: 1 were it says: Say it with me

They that trust in the Lord shall be as mount Zion, which cannot be removed, but abideth forever…

Turn to your neighbor this morning and tell them…

Do you know…? That Just when we think we are down and out… God says…

The Snare is Broken…

Tell Somebody else: The Snare Is Broken…

The snare is broken…

Yes you see, some of us have been dealing with some snares…

Some us have been dealing with life’s pitfalls…

We stumbled and we fell…

We have dealt with some stuff …

And some of us are just trying to get back up…

We are dealing with some situations… Some feelings of helplessness and hopelessness… We are dealing with feelings of lack and feelings of loneliness…

We are dealing with financial issues, physical issues and yes even spiritual issues in our lives and it is these issues that are messing with our minds… Messing with our character and messing with our relationship with the Lord…

And as we look at this passage of scripture,we can look to a man like David… David was a man of God that God had ordained to do great things…

God and David had a covenant relationship that could not be broken…

God and David had a closeness that was not just religious, not just a relationship, but David had fellowship with the Lord in His prayers and His desires…

David knew that He could go to God with anything He needed and with anything he had to talk about…

And David had a confidence in the Lord…

Because not only had God promised David great things in his life and in his kingdom but David knew that through all of his imperfections on this good earth…

Through all of his wrong doings…

Thorough every failure… And through every challenge… through every snare… David believed that God would honor His promise to him…

And because of that Faith… Because of that confidence… And because of his belief in God… David went on the do great things for the Lord…

And the scripture lays out my first point this morning for me because somebody in this house can relate to what David is saying when he said:

(124:2) If it had not been (for) the Lord who was on my side…

I think you know what I’m talking about… If it had not been for the Lord when I was going through…

If it hadn’t been for the Lord when I lost my Job…

If it hadn’t been for the Lord when I was mamma died…

If it hadn’t been for the Lord when I was dealing with that addiction…

If it hadn’t been for the Lord when I was all alone…

When my Child was sick…When I didn’t know where I was going to lay my head…When I didn’t have food on my table…when they were going to turn my heat off…

If it had not been for the Lord…

When those men came against us… It was the Lord…

When they tried to swallow us…. It was the Lord…

When their wrath was against us… it was the Lord…

When we were overwhelmed with it all (help me somebody)… It was the Lord…

That’s why David said: I will look toward the Hills were my help comes from…

That the Lord is my light and my salvation;

My strong tower

My heart fixer…

My Rock and My Refuge…

And that in time of Trouble…

God will set me upon a rock…

God will lift me up…

God will be my light at the end of the tunnel…

My guiding path…

And God will Deliver in my due season…

Tell somebody: the SNARE is BROKEN…

Tell somebody else: I refuse to look back… Because God Says: the Snare is Broken…

You see, a snare is like a pitfall or a strong hold… IN the Hebrew the word means to have trapped… In fact, it means to be trapped with a noose…
