THE SAFEST PLACE TO BE? Manners?

By Wade Martin Hughes, Sr.

TEXT:

HEBREWS 10:25 NOT FORSAKING THE ASSEMBLING OF OURSELVES TOGETHER, AS THE MANNER OF SOME IS: BUT EXTORTING ONE ANOTHER: AND SO MUCH THE MORE, AS YE SEE THE DAY APPROACHING.

Read 1 Cor. 4:2 Moreover it is required in stewards, that a man be found faithful.

AS THE MANNER OF SOME IS...

I ponder the safest place to be?

I ponder today manners of some?

Manners are social behavior expressed by unspoken rules and conduct.

Let us study some general things about manners:

Let us ponder manners,

1 Cor. 15:33 evil communications corrupt manners.

Could manners make the man?

A man without manners is something like a diamond in the rough,

it may sparkle a little in the mud, but it needs the Master’s touch and great light TO BRING OUT THE VALUE, so religion without kindness and manners will always be limited for only new friends, for old friends will know the truth.

A man’s manners are a mirror in the which he shows his portrait.

For good manners are the fruit of loyal Christian minds.

I really ponder the manner of church attendance?

I was a new pastor and at a new pastorate,

I was going door to door to learn the community, and introduce myself to others.

As one door opened, I introduced my self, and my office.

They said, " Is that where Brother and Sister SO-IN-SO attend?

"Sure is" was my reply.

They slammed the door and said,

"Don’t look for us there!" Wow, what an eye opener?

I was inviting a man recently to church, he stated he would never go to church, all the hypocrites go to church?

That is interesting was my reply?

You mean you never meet a hypocrite at Walmart or Super America?? You never go to Disney Land with them?

Well, yes they were at Walmart, but that is different?

How I asked?

More hypocrites go to bars than ever attend church.

I will also admit, there are some hypocrites at church.

I will also admit we are all hypocrites on occassions.

I closed our discussion with, ... well, you should come to church with us hypocrites, and get used to us, for you are going to be IN HELL WITH A WHOLE LOT OF THEM.

Eternity with hypocrites, how sad?

This is just an excuse to stop the growth of good manners in church attendance.

Now, we know Jesus had trouble with hypocrites, but it was never an excuse to not attend and worship the Lord in Spirit and in truth.

One man I was talking to, said, he worshipped the Lord on the lake, I asked when did he take up the tithes & offerings, supported missions?

I think it sounds like people are worshipping the creation and not the CREATOR.

There is nothing wrong with enjoying life and vacations, it is rather the manners of some?

God wants His people in His church on weekly regular basis, faithfulness is not an option?

Read 1 Cor. 4:2 Moreover it is required in stewards, that a man be found faithful.

A man told me his granny told him, you don’t have to go to church? Is granny right or the Bible?

Granny is a little right, you shouldn’t because you "have to,"

YOU SHOULD WANT TO?

HEBREWS 10:25 NOT FORSAKING THE ASSEMBLING OF OURSELVES TOGETHER, AS THE MANNER OF SOME IS: BUT EXTORTING ONE ANOTHER: AND SO MUCH THE MORE, AS YE SEE THE DAY APPROACHING.

The Bible is very clear!

Some people have the manners to avoid church attendance,

but we are to be different, even much more in the last days.

May I live and die faithful to the church and the Master?

Just because everybody else is not as spiritual as you,

is no excuse, get in there and be counted.

I read the other day, a man said he would not go to church,

for at church they shot and killed their wounded.

I replied this was offensive to me.

I read the papers, more at shoot in bars and night clubs.

There are more fights and cheating at bars and night clubs.

There is more shooting and killing at schools than in the church.

Don’t forget, there is a glorious church without spot or wrinkle.

Of that church, I want to be a part.

I want my manners to be Godly, a pure and undefiled religion.

There is safety in good manners.

FOR SAFETY’S SAKE . . . ( source unknown)

Do NOT ride in automobiles: t

hey cause 20% of all fatal accidents.

Do NOT stay home:

17% of all accidents do occur in home.

Do NOT walk on the streets or sidewalks:

14% of all accidents happen to pedestrians.
