The Role of the Holy Spirit Within Text: Galatians 5:22-25

22 But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, longsuffering, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, 23 gentleness, and self-control. Against such there is no law. 24 And those who are Christ’s have crucified the flesh with its passions and desires. 25 If we live in the Spirit, let us also walk in the Spirit.

It’s significant to take note that in the Scripture there are two groups of nine in connection with the work of the Holy Spirit in the life of the believer. The nine fruit of the Spirit, which are a result of the Holy Spirit’s indwelling presence; the nine gifts of the Spirit, which are a result of the Holy Spirit’s infilling power. One of the main purposes of the indwelling presence of the Holy Spirit in the life of the believer is for fruit bearing. If you are a believer, God expects for you to be fruitful sometimes. No, God expects Spirit filled men and women to be fruitful all of the time!

Let me just mention that to be fruitful doesn’t mean that you feel fruitful or gifted, but being fruitful and gifted means that you are a faith walker and a faith talker; therefore, you are always ready to help other’s!

In John 15:5 Jesus told His disciples, “I am the vine, you are the branches. He who abides in Me, and I in him, bears much fruit; for without Me you can do nothing.

All of the fruit that grows from your relationship with Christ is basically for others to partake of. Yes, it will bring edification to you, but that fruit really belongs to others! (God gave it to you to be His minister!)

We can read a biblical example of the fruit of the born-again human Spirit, growing within the believer’s life as a result of the life of the Holy Spirit within.

Luke 24:51-52 before the day of Pentecost we read 51 Now it came to pass, while He blessed them, that He was parted from them and carried up into heaven. 52 And they worshiped Him, and returned to Jerusalem with great joy, (They had great joy because they had great fruit.)

According to Galatians 5:22 joy is a fruit of the born-again, recreated human Spirit.

As you yield to God and obey His word, the life of the Holy Spirit within you causes you to grow continually in love, joy and peace as well as the other fruit.

It’s no big secret, those who really walk in their salvation will grow very fruitful fast!

Listen to the Amplified Bible John 14: 16-18 And I will ask the Father, and He will give you another Comforter (Counselor, Helper, Intercessor, Advocate, Strengthener, and Standby), that He may remain with you forever—

17The Spirit of Truth, Whom the world cannot receive (welcome, take to its heart), because it does not see Him or know and recognize Him. But you know and recognize Him, for He lives with you [constantly] and will be in you.

18I will not leave you as orphans [comfortless, desolate, bereaved, forlorn, helpless]; I will come [back] to you.

If you are born again you don’t need to always find a shoulder to cry on. No, you have a Helper, Comforter, Counselor, Intercessor, Advocate, Strengthener, and Standby.

John 16:7 Nevertheless I tell you the truth. It is to your advantage that I go away; for if I do not go away, the Helper will not come to you; but if I depart, I will send Him to you.

The Holy Spirit wants to guide us through the affairs of life. In-fact, Romans 8:31 tells us God is for us, Matt. 28: 20 tells us God is with us, and I Cor. 6:19 tells us that God is in us!

Say that, God for us, God with us, and God in us; or for, with, in!

How many of you have heard of ‘Carlsbad Caverns’ it’s one of the longest and darkest caves in America. None of us would want to go into that cave without a guide because you would get lost real quick, but thankfully ‘Carlsbad Caverns’ has guides to lead you through.

Listen, That’s what the Holy Spirit is for anyone who will acknowledge Him!

In closing, all the Holy Spirit requires from every believer is for us to become ever conscious of His presence! He desires to help you when you rest, play, eat, pray, prepare and even work!

You have to acknowledge that you are a carrier of the glory of God everywhere you go. [The resurrected Power Plant, the Holy Spirit is living on the inside of you, and He wants to demonstrate His power and love through you]!
