THE REVOLT OF THE PIGS

Matt 8: 28 And when he was come to the other side into the country of the Gergesenes, there met him two possessed with devils, coming out of the tombs, exceeding fierce, so that no man might pass by that way. 29 And, behold, they cried out, saying, What have we to do with thee, Jesus, thou Son of God? art thou come hither to torment us before the time? 30 And there was a good way off from them an herd of many swine feeding. 31 So the devils besought him, saying, If thou cast us out, suffer us to go away into the herd of swine. 32 And he said unto them, Go. And when they were come out, they went into the herd of swine: and, behold, the whole herd of swine ran violently down a steep place into the sea, and perished in the waters. 33 And they that kept them fled, and went their ways into the city, and told every thing, and what was befallen to the possessed of the devils. 34 And, behold, the whole city came out to meet Jesus: and when they saw him, they besought him that he would depart out of their coasts.

One thing that the bible had made clear to the believer is the details of the operations of the kingdom of darkness. What we have done with that knowledge is to mystify it and to make this simple truth unnecessarily complex. I will not want to go into the details of the origin of the devil now, but I will talk about a war that took place in heaven just before the time of Adam.

Rev 12: 7 And there was war in heaven: Michael and his angels fought against the dragon; and the dragon fought and his angels, 8 And prevailed not; neither was their place found any more in heaven. 9 And the great dragon was cast out, that old serpent, called the Devil, and Satan, which deceiveth the whole world: he was cast out into the earth, and his angels were cast out with him. 10 And I heard a loud voice saying in heaven, Now is come salvation, and strength, and the kingdom of our God, and the power of his Christ: for the accuser of our brethren is cast down, which accused them before our God day and night. 11 And they overcame him by the blood of the Lamb, and by the word of their testimony; and they loved not their lives unto the death. 12 Therefore rejoice, ye heavens, and ye that dwell in them. Woe to the inhabiters of the earth and of the sea! for the devil is come down unto you, having great wrath, because he knoweth that he hath but a short time.

This scripture briefly tells us the ministry of the devil. As a spirit, for the devil to function on earth, it must look for a physical body to function with. Of course, the best specie that the devil will need to achieve the ultimate effect will be the human being that was created in the image of God, that is, if the devil will be able to subvert the purpose of God here on earth.

However, man in his original state was created to be beyond the powers of darkness. Gen 1: 26 And God said, Let us make man in our image, after our likeness: and let them have dominion over the fish of the sea, and over the fowl of the air, and over the cattle, and over all the earth, and over every creeping thing that creepeth upon the earth. 27 So God created man in his own image, in the image of God created he him; male and female created he them. 28 And God blessed them, and God said unto them, Be fruitful, and multiply, and replenish the earth, and subdue it: and have dominion over the fish of the sea, and over the fowl of the air, and over every living thing that moveth upon the earth.

But the animals and the other creations were not created above the devil. That was why the devil could take the form of the snake when it came to tempt man. The snake allowed the devil to use it because its nature could easily be related to the nature of the devil.

Gen 3: 1 Now the serpent was more subtil than any beast of the field which the LORD God had made. And he said unto the woman, Yea, hath God said, Ye shall not eat of every tree of the garden?

It was the devil that the scripture was talking about in this verse.

When man sinned, he lost his position in God and became subject to sin and likewise the devil. But God did not leave man helpless. Gen 3: 21 Unto Adam also and to his wife did the LORD God make coats of skins, and clothed them.
