Summary: How Jesus will be with us at all times.
THE PRECIOUSNESS OF JESUS
1st Peter 2: 6 Wherefore also it is contained in the scripture, Behold, I lay in Sion a chief corner stone, elect, precious: and he that believeth on him shall not be confounded.
7 Unto you therefore which believe he is precious: but unto them which be disobedient, the stone which the builders disallowed, the same is made the head of the corner,
There are 3 elements which make something precious or valuable.
1. Rarity Jesus was rare because he was the only one.
2. Usefulness he was the ultimate one who could save us.
3. Price less worth far more than we can see.
1A. He is precious to us in life.
As a sacrifice for our sin.
John 1: 29 The next day John seeth Jesus coming unto him, and saith, Behold the Lamb of God, which taketh away the sin of the world.
As a foundation the element of our assurance.
1st Peter 2: 6 Wherefore also it is contained in the scripture, Behold, I lay in Sion a chief corner stone, elect, precious: and he that believeth on him shall not be confounded.
7 Unto you therefore which believe he is precious: but unto them which be disobedient, the stone which the builders disallowed, the same is made the head of the corner,
As a sustaining element.
John 6: 47 Verily, verily, I say unto you, He that believeth on me hath everlasting life.
48 I am that bread of life.
49 Your fathers did eat manna in the wilderness, and are dead.
50 This is the bread which cometh down from heaven, that a man may eat thereof, and not die.
As a guiding influence.
John 8: 12 Then spake Jesus again unto them, saying, I am the light of the world: he that followeth me shall not walk in darkness, but shall have the light of life.
As an intercessor ,advocate.
Romans 8: 34 Who is he that condemneth? It is Christ that died, yea rather, that is risen again, who is even at the right hand of God, who also maketh intercession for us.
He will be precious in the hour of death.
He never leaves us.
He goes with us all the way.
His supporting promise.
In the dark hour of death the mind turns from all other persons to one person.
In this hour Sir Walter Scott said to his attendant bring me the book. What book he ask?
The only book for a dying man.
It’s his comforting presents.
We meet death fearlessly because he is with us.
He will be precious in judgment.
Because of his righteousness.
Because of his rewards.
Because of joy not sorrow.
His spotless robe.
He will be precious in eternity.
John 14: 1 Let not your heart be troubled: ye believe in God, believe also in me.
2 In my Father's house are many mansions: if it were not so, I would have told you. I go to prepare a place for you.
3 And if I go and prepare a place for you, I will come again, and receive you unto myself; that where I am, there ye may be also.
