The Prayer Before The Cross

Summary: Examining Jesus’ prayer in the Garden of Gethsemane
The prayer Jesus prayed in the Garden, shortly before his death, reveal to us three characteristics of his life.
1. We notice his SORROW (v. 36-38)
A. He was "sorrowful" (v. 37b-38): grived to the point of distress
B. He was "very heavy" (v. 37c): full of heaviness
C. He was "sore amazed" (Mk. 14:33): to be alarmed
2. We notice his SUPPLICATION (v. 39-44)
A. Notice his POSTURE (v. 39a
B. Notice his PRAYER (v. 39b, 42, 44)
C. Notice his PERSUASION (v. 40-41)
3. We notice his SUBMISSION (v. 45-46)
