1. It refers to SEXUAL LUST.

A. Joseph’s in Potiphar’s house

1. Potiphar noticed something different about JOE.

Potiphar noticed this and realized that the LORD was with Joseph, giving

him success in everything he did.

From the day Joseph was put in charge of his master’s household and property,

the LORD began to bless Potiphar’s household for Joseph’s sake. All his

household affairs ran smoothly, and his crops and livestock flourished.

B. JOE was riding high, until that POWER OF LUST showed up.

…Now Joseph was well-built and handsome, and after a while his master's wife took notice of Joseph and said, "Come to bed with me!"

1. POTIPHAR’S WIFE was getting bored with life, needed some excitement

2. MAYBE She got CAUGHT UP - to many Romance books or SOAP OPERAS.

C. Maybe she started to believe that she only had “ONE LIFE TO LIVE”

1. Or “YOUNG AND THE RESTLESS” in her was more then she could handle.

2. She would say, “I’m tired of “ALL MY CHILDREN”,

because “AS THE WORLD TURNS” I’m not getting any younger.

3. Before I find myself ending up at the “GENERAL HOSPITAL”

D. Make sure you’re not FEEDING that LUST within YOU.

1. You’re going to be feeding ONE of the 2 things.

2. GOD’S SPIRIT or your FLESH

Run From Anything That Stimulates Youthful Lusts. Instead, pursue righteous living, faithfulness, love, and peace. Enjoy the companionship of those who call on the Lord with pure hearts.

1. Paul is saying that there’s GOOD AND EVIL RAGING in us all the time.

2. When we think we won’t succumb to the temptation.

3. We can create within ourselves a sense of false strength.

Fill Your Time With Godly Things

Genesis 39:11-12 (NIV)

One day he went into the house to attend to his duties, and none of the household servants was inside. She caught him by his cloak and said, "Come to bed with me!" But he left his cloak in her hand and ran out of the house.

A. GOD’S JOE did the RIGHT THING

1. There’s NOWHERE in the BIBLE that GOD says, “In the time of SEXUAL temptation, to REASON THE SITUATION OUT.

2. BUT it says, “TO FLEE, RUN, GET OUT OF THERE”

B. When we RUN from TEMPTATION

1. GOD’S SAYING, “WAY to go, KEEP RUNNING.

2. You’re PURSUING RIGHTEOUSNESS, You’re LIVING FAITHFUL

ILL: JOE didn’t sit and try to reason this situation out with her or talk about her marital problems

3. But he RAN out of there HALF NAKED PROBABLY SINGING THE SONG:

B. He wasn’t worried about what he looked like or his job or future.

1. He had ONE THING on his mind, TO RUN.

PURSUE:

-Get a filter on your computer.

-Change conversations at work.

-Be protective of what God has given you.

-Honest Communication with GOD –

King David said, “search me oh God and know my thoughts”

-Be honest with God, spouse, friends.
