Lust 1 Peter 2:11
Comes from the Greek word Epithumeo which means to set the heart upon i.e. long for rightfully or otherwise): covet desire would fain, lust (after).
Epithumetes - a craver; lust after
Epithumia - a longing (especially for what is forbidden),desire, concupiscence, lust (after)
(#’s 1937,1938,1939)
Men seek after that which is forbidden unlike Adam who supposedly ate a "apple" men are after women with a Apple Bottom....Badunkadunk...They are longing for a woman or craving a woman with a Big Backside and not looking at her for her beauty. The reason why men want that which is forbidden is because even though they know they shouldnt touch that which is forbidden.(Joshua - The man who took of the accursed thing) curiosity always drive them....(wasn’t it curiosity that killed the cat?) anyways curiosity drives them....hmmm whats her name.....hmmmm let me get her digits....hmmm man she got a big backside.....hmmm i dont want anybody to see me trying to talk to her..or get at that...hmmmm!
Curiosity -
A state in which you want to learn more about something
A desire to know or learn about people or things that do not concern one; nosiness.
An object that arouses interest or a curiosity.
While there are women who will tell you "NO" I’m not interested there are some women who are! I call them advertisers. These are women that men want. When these women are advertising all of their business whether consciencely or unconsciencely they are advertising that they are going for the highest bidden - forbidden - they dress like that because they are craving (lusting after) some man’s attention. Lust does not discriminate it wants the Preacher, Pastor, Buisnessman, Executive,The President,etc......
Lust doesn’t discriminate it craves passion, affection, fulfillment, the right words, money, power, cars, credit cards,sex,etc.....
The person or individual with the right words,money,car,etc...will get her business ( remember) lust is an advertiser...what you don’t know is that lust is tricking you, trying to decieve you cause all lust wants is your soul.
Look at your neighbor and say, "RUN" ( Joseph and Potiphers wife ).
Turn to: James 1:13,14,15
James 1:13-15.
Let no man say when he is tempted, I am tempted of God: for God cannot be tempted with evil, neither tempteth he any man:
But every man is tempted, when he is drawn away of his own lust, and enticed.
Then when lust hath conceived, it bringeth forth sin: and sin, when it is finished, bringeth forth death.
The first thing we learn about temptation in this passage is that it never comes from God. God never tempts anyone with evil. God may test someone, either to purify them, or to prove what is in their heart -- that is, whether or not they will obey His Word --but God will not test that person with evil. Any temptation to do evil that you are confronted with, then, comes from someone other than the true God.
The Anatomy of Temptation
A.Temptation begins with desire.
But every man is tempted, when he is drawn away of his own lust, and enticed.James 1:14.
The word translated "lust" here literally means "desire." Temptation always begins with desire.
B. If there is no desire to have or to do what God has forbidden, no temptation has taken place.
The desire to disobey God is not sin.
C. Sin does not take place at the moment of desire. Rather, desire must "conceive" before it can produce sin.
Conceive - The conception that produces sin takes place;in the heart.
This is why Proverbs 4:23 say’s "Keep thy heart with all diligence: for out of it [are] the issues of life."
It is in our heart that we make our decisions. Sin must take root in the heart before it can be manifested in our lives or in the flesh.
Turn to: Matthew 15:17-19.
Do not ye yet understand, that whatsoever entereth in at the mouth goeth into the belly, and is cast out in the draught?
But those things which proceed out of the mouth come forth from the heart: and they defile the man.
For out of the heart proceed evil thoughts, murders, adulteries, fornications, thefts, false witness, blasphemies:
These are [the things] which defile a man: but to eat with unwashen hands defileth not a man.
As far as God is concerned, sin that is allowed to take root in the heart is just as evil as sin that is committed with the flesh.
To show you an example of this turn to Matthew 5:27,28
Ye have heard that it was said by them of old time, Thou shalt not commit adultery.
But I say unto you, that whosoever looketh on a woman to lust ( desire ) after her hath committed adultery with her already in his heart.
The word lust in this scripture doesnt do this passage justice when we put desire in its place we get a better understanding of what the Holy Spirit is saying. The sin referred to here is adultery, not fornication. The same word "woman" and "wife" is translated in the Greek; the context determines which word is meant. Because adultery is the sin referred to here, the woman in question is someone else’s wife.
