Jeremiah Saw The Problem 4 And the vessel that he made of clay was marred in the hand of the potter:
a.) The Seriousness Of The Problem (vessel marred in the hand of the Potter.) The Character Of Sin adultery, murder, blasphemy and profanity, pride, idolatry and sorcery, drunkeness, envy and jealousy, heresy, sodomy, theft and extortion, kidnapping, lying and perjury, lawlessness and rebellion. The Contempt For Sin God hates sin . Psa 45:6-7, & Heb 1:8-9 But unto the Son he saith, Thy throne, O God, is for ever and ever: a sceptre of righteousness is the sceptre of thy kingdom. 9 Thou hast loved righteousness, and hated iniquity; therefore God, even thy God, hath anointed thee with the oil of gladness above thy fellows. 1John 3:7-10, Little children, let no man deceive you: he that doeth righteousness is righteous, even as he is righteous. 8 He that committeth sin is of the devil; for the devil sinneth from the beginning. For this purpose the Son of God was manifested, that he might destroy the works of the devil. 9 Whosoever is born of God doth not commit sin; for his seed remaineth in him: and he cannot sin, because he is born of God. 10 In this the children of God are manifest, and the children of the devil: whosoever doeth not righteousness is not of God, neither he that loveth not his brother. The Consequence Of Sin The wages of sin is everlasting death (Rom 6:23). Nobody will ever say anything more serious than what Jesus will say in judgment: "Depart from me you cursed into everlasting fire" (Mtt 25:41,46). The Cost Of Sin God had to give his unique and beloved Son to die cruelly upon the cross and to shed his blood so that we should not perish (John 3:16). 1 Pet 3:18 For Christ also hath once suffered for sins, the just for the unjust, that he might bring us to God, being put to death in the flesh, but quickened by the Spirit: b) The Solution To The Problem so he made it again another vessel 2 Cor 5:17 Therefore if any man be in Christ, he is a new creature: old things are passed away; behold, all things are become new. 18 And all things are of God, who hath reconciled us to himself by Jesus Christ, and hath given to us the ministry of reconciliation; c) The Sovereignty In The Problem as seemed good to the potter to make it. 3. Jeremiah Saw The Process v.4 so he made it again another vessel, as seemed good to the potter to make it. (a) The Cost Involved - Calvary (b) The Control Involved - as the clay is in the potter’s hand Isa 45:9, “Woe unto him that striveth with his Maker! Let the potsherd strive with the potsherds of the earth. Shall the clay say to him that fashioneth it, What makest thou?” (c) The Compliance Involved - so are ye in mine hand, O house of Israel. (d) The Completion Involved
