TAKE HEED: THE POLLUTION OF SIN... THE INSANITY OF SIN...
By Wade Martin Hughes, Sr. Kyfingers@aol.com
I. SIN COMES IN TWO FORMS:
1. GUILT: REATUS, sinfulness, feeling, wrongdoing... INWARD
2. POLLUTION: MACULA... OUTWARD...
Contaminate, defile, make foul, dirty, filthy, destroy the purity or sanctity...
To fail to comply, treat with disrespect,
SIN:
Snare, trap, to break moral law, to consciously do wrong, wicked,
II. SIN IS UNIVERSAL:
ALL SIN IS COMING SHORT OF THE GLORY OF GOD...
Romans 3:23 For all have sinned, and come short of the glory of God;
III. THERE IS GREAT DEBATE OF THE ORIGIN OF SIN...
WE KNOW THE ORIGIN OF SIN ON EARTH...
A. THE ENEMY CATCHS EVE ALONE...
B. THEY TALK AND REASON TOGETHER...
Genesis 3:1 Now the serpent was more subtil than any beast of the field which
the Lord God had made. And he said unto the woman, Yea, hath God said, Ye shall not
eat of every tree of the garden?
[2] And the woman said unto the serpent, We may eat of the fruit of the trees of the garden:
[3] But of the fruit of the tree which is in the midst of the garden, God hath said, Ye shall
not eat of it, neither shall ye touch it, lest ye die.
[4] And the serpent said unto the woman, Ye shall not surely die:
[5] For God doth know that in the day ye eat thereof, then your eyes shall be opened, and ye shall be
as gods, knowing good and evil. [6] And when the woman saw that the tree was good for food, and that
it was pleasant to the eyes, and a tree to be desired to make one wise, she took of the fruit thereof,
and did eat, and gave also unto her husband with her; and he did eat.
IV. SIN HAD LONG BEEN ESTABLISHED IN ETERNITY BEYOND THE CREATION OF MAN...
THERE WAS AN ANGEL, THE SONG LEADER IN HEAVEN, LUFCIFER...
Isaiah 14:12 How art thou fallen from heaven, O Lucifer, son of the morning! how art thou cut down to
the ground, which didst weaken the nations!
[13] For thou hast said in thine heart, I will ascend into heaven, I will exalt my throne above the stars
of God: I will sit also upon the mount of the congregation, in the sides of the north:
[14] I will ascend above the heights of the clouds; I will be like the most High.
[15] Yet thou shalt be brought down to hell, to the sides of the pit.
V. THE PROBLEM OF THE HEART IS THE HEART OF THE PROBLEM...
Jeremiah 17:9 The heart is deceitful above all things, and desperately wicked: who can know it?
VI. TAKE HEED THERE ARE TWO KINDS OF SIN:
1. COMMISION: THINGS YOU DO... TRANSGRESSION OF THE LAW...
1 John 3:4 Whosoever committeth sin transgresseth also the law: for sin is the transgression
of the law.
Romans 4:15 Because the law worketh wrath: for where no law is, there is no transgression.
Matthew 5:19 Whosoever therefore shall break one of these least commandments, and shall teach
men so, he shall be called the least in the kingdom of heaven: but whosoever shall do and teach
them, the same shall be called great in the kingdom of heaven.
2. OMMISSION: THINGS YOU DON'T DO...
Matthew 23:23 Woe unto you, scribes and Pharisees, hypocrites! for ye pay tithe of mint and anise
and cummin, and have omitted the weightier matters of the law, judgment, mercy, and faith: these
ought ye to have done, and not to leave the other undone.
Matthew 25:45 Then shall he answer them, saying, Verily I say unto you, Inasmuch as ye did it not
to one of the least of these, ye did it not to me.
VII. TAKE HEED: BEING IN THE WRONG PLACE AT THE WRONG TIME, WITH THE WRONG
PEOPLE... TAKE HEED--- SIN WILL COME TO THE CAMP...
2 Samuel 11:1 And it came to pass, after the year was expired, at the time when kings go forth to
battle, that David sent Joab, and his servants with him, and all Israel; and they destroyed the
children of Ammon, and besieged Rabbah. But David tarried still at Jerusalem.
1. David's sin cost more than he planned on paying...
2. David's sin took him farther than he planned on going...
3. David's sin kept him longer than he planned on staying...
2 Samuel 12:7 And Nathan said to David, Thou art the man. Thus saith the Lord God of Israel, I
anointed thee king over Israel, and I delivered thee out of the hand of Saul;
[8] And I gave thee thy master's house, and thy master's wives into thy bosom, and gave thee the
house of Israel and of Judah; and if that had been too little, I would moreover have given unto thee
