The Origin Of Man And Purpose Of It

Summary: God created man in his own image, in the image of God created he him; male and female created he them.
In recording this first chapter of Genesis the Holy Spirit, did not want us to have any doubts or questions as to the creator of the world and all that is in it. So, he used the word God 32 times in the first chapter. The word made is found seven times, the word good is also recorded seven times as well as the word heaven. Seven is the number of perfection, so we see perfection stamped everywhere in God’s creation.
The law of separation is important, began in the beginning, there can be no fellowship between light and darkness. God is light: darkness is satanic, 1 John 1:5-7, 2 Corinthians 6:14.
I. Man Made in the Image and Likeness of God
1. The principal thing here is that man is a spiritual being, 1 Thessalonians 5:23
2. Man is three in one: body, soul, and spirit.
3. God the Father, Son & Spirit.
4. John 4:24
5. Hebrews 12:9
6. Zechariah 12:1
7. Proverbs 20:27
8. Ecclesiastes 12:7
9. No beast in all creation could be man’s consort, Genesis 2:18-20
10. Nothing in all God’s creation could have anything in common with man.
II. God Made Man and Gave Him Dominion Over the Created Universe.
1. Genesis 1:28, Psalm 8:59
2. With knowledge of reason, Genesis 2:19-20, Colossians 3:10.
3. With uprightness and holiness, Ecclesiastes 7:29, Ephesians 4:24.
4. With conscience that excuses or accuses. Romans 2:15
5. With immortality of the soul & provision for immortality of the body.
6. With the capacity of marriage unlike the beast.
7. With capacity for labor, apart from struggle for existence, Genesis 2:15
8. With the power of speech.
9. Man is unlike anything else in all God’s creation.
10. He is made “in the image of God, and God crated him male and female.”
11. Remember there is no such thing as pre-Adamic.
12. Man was given a commission to fill and subdue the earth, Genesis 1:31.
