The Only Thing That Can Come Out Of You Is What’s Inside Of You.
Contributed by Rick Chapman on Oct 22, 2025 (message contributor)
Summary: What is coming out to others, is who you are.
The only thing that can come out of you is what’s inside of you.
Everyone tries to blame what they said is because someone made them angry or mad.
Well Jesus said in one of his sermons in Matthew 12:34
12:34 O generation of vipers, how can ye, being evil, speak good things? “for out of the abundance of the heart the mouth speaketh”.
So, the only thing that can come out of you is in you.
(i.e.) This water bottle here, it has water in in, if I shook this up and opened it up, what will I then pour out of it? WATER, because that is what is in it, even though I shook it up and got it all stirred up.
So, when people come into your life and stirs you up and get you all upset, what is it that comes out of you…
So, when you say vile or mean things, that means you have mean and vile things inside your heart.
So would it not be true then the problem is you do not have a mean or vile mouth, but you have a mean and vile heart…. that is what Jesus said in Matthew 12:34 isn’t it.
Matthew 12:35
12:35 A good man out of the good treasure of the heart bringeth forth good things: and an evil man out of the evil treasure bringeth forth evil things.
I’m telling you this morning, it is the heart in each and every person that will guide them in the direction you are going to take.
Let me tell you the next verse here Jesus made it as simple and clear to understand.
12:36 But I say unto you, That every idle word that men shall speak, they shall give account thereof in the day of judgment.
Remember that old saying, “what goes up, must come down, well in this case what you say out of your mouth, will come back to you.
Words have strong meanings,
• Words cause effects
• Words cause damage
• Words cause change
In the case of these scriptures, I have read here this morning, WORDS,
Tell or paint a picture of what is inside you.
Words like these are like an x-ray, an MRI, cat-scan of what is in you, what is in your mind, what is in your heart.
The Psalmist tells us in Proverbs 18:21
18:21 Death and life are in the power of the tongue:
Matthew 15:11
15:11 Not that which goeth into the mouth defileth a man; but that which cometh out of the mouth, this defileth a man.
WHO WE ARE, IS WHAT YOU HAVE IN YOU.
1 Peter 3:10
3:10 For he that will love life, and see good days, let him refrain his tongue from evil, and his lips that they speak no guile:
Allow me to put that verse in plain Alabamian English here.
“If you want to enjoy life and see many happy days, keep your tongue from speaking evil and your lips from telling lies”.
Please do not think I am pointing out anyone here or for that matter anyone I have known or met, this is what God has laid upon my heart to preach on this morning.
But I assure you we all can be reminded that what proceeds out from us is what people see and think about us.
It’s time we as Christians become a different type of person.
It’s time we all can find time to do some house cleaning in out inner self to promote Jesus to others.
I would hate to be known as a person who acts differently on Sundays than the person on Mondays through Saturdays.
The difference is, and will only be, because we have Jesus Christ in us. That is the focus we must learn to live our life by.
Galatians 2:20
2:20 I am crucified with Christ: nevertheless I live; yet not I, but Christ liveth in me: and the life which I now live in the flesh I live by the faith of the Son of God, who loved me, and gave himself for me.
Romans 8:10
8:10 And if Christ be in you, the body is dead because of sin; but the Spirit is life because of righteousness.
Ephesians 3:17
3:17 That Christ may dwell in your hearts by faith; that ye, being rooted and grounded in love,
When we get to that point in our lives that we become like this “water bottle”, the only thing that will come out of us is Jesus when we shook up and rattled around, we then we will find that the pureness of what Christ in us will begin to flow the good things that will truly make us happy.
I’ll close
Everyday we all fight the devil as to who and what we have become in Christ. This world will challenge you every step of the way.
