Summary: There are three things that should be the most important in everyone's live. I try to preach this message near the first of every year as a reminder to our church members and to inform our new members and attendee.
The Most Important Things
Colossians 1:12-19
That in all things He might have the preeminence…
Preeminence - To have first place in rank and influence.
There are three things that are the most important.
We must not loose sight of them.
I. The Great Commandment. Deuteronomy 6:4-5
A. To Love the Lord
1. John 4:19 We love him, because he first loved us.
2. I serve Him because I love Him
3. I obey Him because I love Him.
4. I put Him first because I love Him.
B. Teach your children to love the Lord (Deuteronomy 6:7-9)
1. All the time
2. Everywhere
C. To love people
1. Added by Jesus. Matthew 22:37-39
2. It is commanded by Jesus
John 15:12 This is my commandment that ye love one another, as I have loved you.
3. The mark of a disciple.
John 13:35 By this shall all men know that ye are my disciples, if ye have love one to another
D. It comes down to this - Love God, Love people
II. The Great Commission. Matthew 28:19-20
A. Teach all nations (make disciples)
1. Soul winning Acts 1:8
2. We should go
3. We should give
4, We should send (pray)
5, Support Missionaries – not boards.
1) Financially
2) Prayerfully
B. Baptizing them
1. Right candidate - Born again
2. Right authority - Local Church
3. Right method - Immersion
C. Teaching them
1) What Jesus taught
2) To be His disciple
a. To follow Him
Matt. 16:24 ¶ Then said Jesus unto his disciples, If any man will come after
me, let him deny himself, and take up his cross, and follow me.
b. To learn of Him.
Matt. 11:28 Come unto me, all ye that labour and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest.
Matt. 11:29 Take my yoke upon you, and learn of me; for I am meek and lowly in heart: and ye
shall find rest unto your souls.
c. Imitate him - our aim should be to be like Jesus.
III. The Great Cause. Psalm 29:2
A. To glorify the Lord in every thing
1. Psalms 29:2 Give unto the LORD the glory due unto his name; worship the LORD in the beauty of
holiness.
2. 1 Corinthians 10:31 Whether therefore ye eat, or drink, or whatsoever ye do, do all
to the glory of God.
3. Every thing we do as individual and as a church should have the main purpose of
glorifying God.
B. To worship Him
C. To thank Him.
D. To give Him Honor
1. Do not give honer to worldly things.
a. Luck
b. Fate
3. Karma
2. It is GOD that blesses us.
James 1:17 Every good gift and every perfect gift is from above, coming down
from the Father of lights, bwith whom there is no variation or shadow due to
change.(ESV)
Conclusion
The Great Commandment - Love God, Love people
The Great Commission - Make Disciples
The Great Cause - Glorify God in everything
