Summary: What is in store for us during the 1,000 year reign?

Men down through the ages have dreamed and planned for a golden age of perfect life. I contend that the scriptures have much to say about this golden age. There can be no doubt, but that Jesus is to come out victorious over Satan and sin. This age when “righteousness shall cover the earth as the waters cover the sea” shall literally come to pass. The Bible predicts a thousand years for this age, thus, the word millennium, meaning 1,000.

When will this “golden age” come? First, it will come after the rapture of the church. Revelation 20:6. It will also come after the tribulation period. Revelation 20:4. Here are the tribulation saints who are martyred for the witness of Jesus. The Lord told John they, too, would live upon the earth with Jesus for the millennium.

Many leaders today think they can bring about a man-made utopia through education, war on poverty, better social conditions, etc. they are wrong. Only Jesus will bring this about after His second coming and the Great Tribulation.

Consider with me some things that are going to happen during this “golden age”. The Bible gives us some very definite facts about this time. To be sure, there is much we cannot understand, but we can see and know what God has told us about the Millennium in the Word.

I. Satan Will be Bound

1. Verses 2-3

2. This lifts the curse the earth has had for 6,000 years can you imagine a world with no Devil? No test, no temptation, doubt, sin, disappointments. This will be a fulfillment of Isaiah 14:12-16.

3. Legislation cannot remove Satan. The United States tried this during the time of prohibition, and it did not work. Only God will be able to put him away.

II. Christ Will Set Up His Millennial Throne

1. Verses 4-6

2. Christ is spoken of in scripture as a Prophet, a Priest, and a King. We have seen Him as a Prophet and a s a Priest. We shall see Him as King of Kings and Lord of Lords.

3. Jesus Christ shall reign in person. Revelation 20:6; Psalm 72:11, Zechariah 9:10. He shall set up the kingdom Himself. He will sit upon the throne of David and rule the earth “with a rod of iron.”

4. Jerusalem will be the capitol of His kingdom. Jeremiah 3:17

5. The position of the saints during this reign will be one of reigning themselves. Verse 6; Revelation 5:10; Matthew 25:14-23.

III. The Conditions During the Millennium

1. First, there will be universal peace. Isaiah 2:4; mankind through the ages has sought for a way to banish wars, only to be disappointed. Nations in every generation have experienced the bloodshed of war.

2. It seems that the entire earth has become a military camp. Every nation trying to outdo the other nations in men and weapons. Will there ever come lasting peace. Yes! During the Millennial Kingdom.

3. Genesis 3:17-19; this curse of the land will be removed. Joel 3:17-18; Isaiah 35:1-2; Ezequiel 36:33-35

4. there will be no sickness, and because of the absence of sin, death will be almost unheard of. Isaiah 33:24; 35:5-6; 65:20

5. it will be a time of complete peace, even the animals will lose their fierceness. Isaiah 11:6-9; 65:25

6. Zephaniah 3:8-9; then all people shall speak the same language. Oh, that was always God's intention. It was as man tried to build the tower of Babel in their effort to reach heaven that God confused the tongues.

7. The people of the Millennium will be those who have escaped the tribulation and the battle of Armageddon. Those who have not taken the mark of the beast. Isaiah 2:2-4; Zechariah 14:16

8. all the Saints shall be like Jesus. 1 John 3:2

IV. The End of the Millennial Reign

1. Verses 7-10

2. Satan will be loosed. Verse 3, notice “must be loosed for a little season”. the man has been in a perfect state for 1000 years, many will believe the lie oh Satan and will be deceived and go against the Lord.

3. This will prove finally and completely the sinful state of man and his need of a savior. Man is not able to save himself.

4. Versus 7-9; thus, we have the final battle of the Bible. The battle of God and Magog. We have a description of this last battle in God's word. Ezekiel 38:18-23

5. verse 10, the doom of Satan. This will be the doom of all who reject Christ and choose to follow sin and Satan. Thank God if you are saved!
