THE MAN WHO LOST HIS AXE HEAD

II KINGS 6: 1-7

V.5 - He Lost His Power For Service! --- Note he was working.... We think you have to quit church or get out of your position before you backslide and loose the blessings and power of God but some get cold on God and loose the power of God even while they are still active in the work of God! --- The axe head represented the Present and Power of the Holy Spirit. A Christian who looses his Spiritual Power is like a man trying to cut down a tree without the axe head.

PLAYING WITH SIN WILL COST YOU THE PRESENCE AND POWER OF GOD!

SAMSON PLAYED WITH SIN - Judges 16:1-3 - Samson saw a harlot, and went in unto her, and lay till midnight ... The Philistines lay wait for him and was going to kill him... But when Samson came out He picked up doors of the gate of the city and two posts, bar and all and lay them on his shoulder and carried them up the hill towards Hebron!

Look at this... Had just laid with a harlot till midnight and still did what he did --- He was saying "I still got it" (God help us to play and dabble in sin and say we still got it) (Think of Jimmy Swaggart or Jim Bakker!)

In Jud. 16:4 - He saw a beautiful woman named Delilah... He went in unto her.....She seduced Samson to tell where his great strength was and he told her... Note 16:20 ... and he wist not that the Lord had departed from him! --- There is a payday for sin - Sin Blinds, Binds, and Grinds.... Rom. 6:23 - The wages of sin is death - Ezk. 18:4 - The soul that sinneth it shall die - Ja. 1:15 - when lust hath conceived it bringeth forth sin, and when sin is finished, bringeth forth death.

We need to hate sin! -- Psa. 97:10 - Ye that love the Lord, hate evil!

Story of the social workers and the little dirty boy – Its not that she doesn’t love the little boy its just she doesn’t hate dirt --- Man always prayed, Lord, clean the cobwebs out of my life... another man stood up and said, don’t do it... Kill the Spider. --- SIN WILL TAKE YOU FARTHER THAT YOU WANT TO GO – KEEP YOU LONGER THAN YOU WANT TO STAY – COST YOU MORE THAN YOU WANT TO PAY!

THE APOSTLE PETER... BEGAN TO FOLLOW AFAR OFF... Luke 22:54....

Psa. 1 - Walk, Stand, Sit... Peter began just walking away from Jesus, He began standing or looking at the enemies camp fire, The next thing you know, He is sitting at the enemies camp fire... denying Jesus! -- He denied Jesus 3 times! -- But Praise The Lord when he relized He had lost the presence and power of God He Repented!

V.5 - When he relized he lost his power... He appealed to the Man of God, Elisha.

V.6 - Where fell it? or where did you loose it? -- The man of God cast a stick in the water (the stick represents the cross) and the iron did swim! (Note it didn’t float, it did swim! -- A dead man can float!) Once we repent and get back to God... Go to work! He found it where he lost it!

You will find your power where you left it!

COME TO THE CROSS! --- COME TO JESUS!
