This sermon explores the profound implications of recognizing, revering, and responding to the Lordship of Jesus in every aspect of our lives.

Introduction

Welcome, dear friends, to this gathering of hearts and minds under the banner of our Lord Jesus Christ. We find ourselves today in the comforting embrace of fellowship, ready to ponder the profound truths of our faith. We are here to reflect on the Lordship of Jesus, a theme so central to our beliefs yet so vast in its implications that we could spend a lifetime contemplating it.

We are reminded of the words of the great preacher Martin Luther, who once said, "Learn to know Christ and Him crucified. Learn to sing to Him, and say, 'Lord Jesus, you are my righteousness, I am your sin. You have taken upon yourself what is mine and given me what is yours. You have become what you were not so that I might become what I was not.'" Luther’s words echo the heart of our message today. That in the Lordship of Jesus, we find our identity, our purpose, and our salvation.

Recognizing the Lordship of Jesus

When we open our hearts and minds to the reality of Jesus as our Lord, we are acknowledging His divine authority over our lives. This is not a casual or superficial acknowledgment, but a deep, personal, and transformative recognition. It is a recognition that changes the way we think, the way we feel, and the way we live. It is a recognition that brings us into a relationship with Jesus that is marked by reverence, love, and obedience.

This recognition begins with understanding who Jesus is. He is the Son of God, the Savior of the world, and the Lord of all. He is the one who was born of a virgin, lived a sinless life, died on the cross for our sins, and rose again on the third day. He is the one who ascended into heaven and is now seated at the right hand of God the Father. He is the one who will come again to judge the living and the dead. This is the Jesus we recognize as our Lord.

But recognizing Jesus as Lord is not just about understanding who He is. It is also about accepting what He has done for us. He has loved us with an everlasting love. He has redeemed us from the power of sin and death. He has reconciled us to God the Father. He has given us the gift of eternal life. He has made us His own. This is the Jesus we recognize as our Lord.

Yet, recognizing Jesus as Lord is more than just understanding who He is and accepting what He has done for us. It is also about submitting to His authority in our lives. It is about letting Him guide our thoughts, our words, and our actions. It is about letting Him shape our values, our priorities, and our decisions. It is about letting Him influence our relationships, our work, and our leisure. It is about letting Him direct our paths, our plans, and our future. This is the Jesus we recognize as our Lord.

Finally, recognizing Jesus as Lord means we are proclaiming His Lordship to others. It is about sharing the good news of His love, His grace, and His salvation. It is about bearing witness to His power, His presence, and His peace. This is the Jesus we recognize as our Lord.

Paul tells us that at the name of Jesus every knee should bow and every tongue acknowledge that Jesus Christ is Lord. This is not just a prediction of what will happen in the future. It is also a call to action for us today. It is a call to recognize Jesus as our Lord, to bow our knees in reverence, to confess with our tongues that He is Lord, and to live our lives in a way that reflects His Lordship.

Revering the Lordship of Jesus

As we continue to ponder the words of Apostle Paul in Philippians 2:9-11, we find ourselves drawn to the reverence that the Lordship of Jesus commands ... View this full PRO sermon free with PRO
