The Journey. Walking in Faith
Good Morning
Stand with me and lift your bible and repeat after me.
This is my Bible.
I am what it says I am.
I can do what it says I can do.
I am going to learn how to be what it says I can be.
Today I will learn more of the word of God.
The indestructible, never ending, living word Of God.
I will never be the same.
I will never be the same.
In Jesus Name
Amen?
Before you sit down, say good morning to your brothers and sisters.
The Journey. Walking in Faith Genesis 12:1-3
A long time ago there was a man named Abram who had lived a simple life like you and I and was called by God to embark on a mission.
Turn with me to Genesis chapter 12 and say, “Amen” when you are there. Let’s read together.
“The Lord said to Abram: Go out from your land, your relatives and your father’s house to the land I will show you. I will make you into a great nation, I will bless you, I will make your name great, and you will be a blessing. I will bless those who bless you, I will curse those who treat you with contempt, and all the peoples of the earth will be blessed by you.”
You and I have been called also as followers of the one and only God to embark on a mission also. Ours may not be as large as Abrams but it will also be just as important.
Abram was 75 years old when he was called by the Lord to pick up all he possessed and move. That would be hard for you and I to do at any time in our lives.
Imagine this. God tells you to sell all you have and pack up your family and move across the ocean to a continent you have never visited, and you just unpack all of your belongings and set up a tent on a hill and you and your loved ones just start living there. It would be awkward. Amen?
I packed up my belongings years back and moved to another part of this country and started a new life. It was not easy, but the Lord put it in my heart and my mind that He would use me in that change. He has blessed me over the years I believe because I believe in Him.
God has a plan for each of us.
God blessed Abram because he walked in faith.
God tested him through trials in his life.
But God called him a righteous man because of his faith.
Abram, whose name was changed to Abraham by the Lord, walked in faith but he still did things on his own. He went through many things in his life where he made bad decisions just like you and I. But God still loved him and encouraged him throughout his life.
God does that for you and I.
He walks with us and gives us free will to continue on in this life striving for what is our hope and our dream.
But it is still His hope that even though we have the free will to follow Him or not, that we do so. I have met many people in my life that think that they have it all together.
They have the perfect way to do things.
They have the best clothes, the newest car, the biggest house, and they have many friends on Facebook. But usually, they are just striving to feel the feeling of comfort that they need in life.
The true comfort they can really have by giving their life to putting God first.
Abraham wanted a son and at a very old age, God fulfilled a promise that He had given the Abraham. Sarah, Abraham’s wife who stood by him through everything, gave birth at an older age to that son that God had promised.
Abraham was then tested again by God with the almost sacrifice of that son Isaac on a wood fire.
God promised a covenant with Abraham and fulfilled it.
Abraham was the father of many nations as God had said he would be.
God makes promises and keeps them.
He is not like those that have made them to us and never fulfilled them.
People over the years continued to battle against the things God put in place upon the creation of our earth.
We have seen many different people be used by God in the Old Testament that we are being called and used by God to bring people to a personal relationship with Him like Abraham.
Isaac.
Jacob.
Moses.
Rahab.
Ruth.
Judah.
David.
Solomon.
I can go on and on. Those people went through things in their lives like you and I may be going through.
