ROMANS 8:16

FOCAL POINT: THE ASSURANCE OF SALVATION

INTRODUCTION:

THE INWARD WITNESS IS THE THIRD WITNESS TO ASSURANCE OF SALVATION. THE FIRST WITNESS IS A CHANGED LIFE. THE SECOND IS THE WITNESS OF THE WORD OF GOD. THIS STUDY ADDRESSED THE INWARD WITNESS.

EXPOSITION ON ROMANS 8: 16

THE HOLY SPIRIT SPEAKS A DIVINE IMPRESSION TO YOUR CONSCIOUSNESS THE ASSURANCE OF SALVATION. DIVINE IMPRESSION IS NOT HUMAN FEELING.

THE HOLY SPIRIT TESTIFIES YOU ARE A CHILD OF GOD. A CHILD OF GOD, ADOPTED INTO THE FAMILY OF GOD, MEANS GOD IS YOUR SPIRITUAL FATHER. THIS MEANS YOU CARRY THE SAME LEGAL RIGHTS AND PRIVILEGES AS A BIRTHED CHILD.

THE TERM “CHILDREN OF GOD” IDENTIFIES OUR RELATIONSHIP TO GOD BY REGENERATION. THE TERM “SONS OF GOD” EMPHASIZES THE LEGAL STANDING OF AN ADOPTED SON.

GALATIANS 4: 7 “THEREFORE YOU ARE NO LONGER A SLAVE BUT A SON, AND IF A SON, THEN AN HEIR OF GOD THROUGH CHRIST.” (NKJV)

BELIEVERS, ESPECIALLY NEW BELIEVERS, SOMETIMES QUESTION THEIR SALVATION. YOUR EMOTIONS AND FEELINGS MAY CHANGE BUT GOD DOES NOT. HEBREWS 13: 8 “JESUS CHRIST IS THE SAME YESTERDAY, TODAY AND FOREVER.” (NJKV). GOD HAS NOT CHANGED HIS MIND REGARDING YOUR SALVATION! STUDYING THE SCRIPTURES REGARDING YOUR RELATIONS WITH CHRIST AND PRAYER WILL REASSURE YOU OF HIS SAVING POWER. LOOK TO THE AUTHOR AND FINISHER (PERFECTOR) OF YOUR FAITH. HEBREWS 12: 2 “LOOKING UNTO JESUS, THE AUTHOR AND FINISHER OF OUR FAITH, WHO FOR THE JOY THAT WAS SET BEFORE HIM ENDURED THE CROSS, DESPISING THE SHAME, AND HAS SET DOWN AT THE RIGHT HAND OF THE THRONE OF GOD.” (NKJV)

APPLICATION: ON THE AUTHORITY OF SCRIPTURE, YOU CAN ASSURE YOUR SALVATION.
