Summary: Isaiah describes a Highway of Holiness and who will be on it as well as those who will not be on it.
The Highway of Holiness
Isaiah 35:8-10
Intro: Isaiah 35:8-10
Isaiah 34 tells of the judgment of God upon a sinful
people. Vs. 1-5
See Vs. 8
And then we see God’s grace.
-The rose will bloom again…vs 1
-There will be rejoicing vs. 2
-They shall see the glory of the Lord
-His Excellency – majesty
Titus 2:11 For the grace of God thatbringeth
salvation hath appeared to all men,
-We see Him at work restoring and encouraging His people. Vs 3-6
-Strengthen the weak hands
-firm up the week knees.
-Say to them of a fearful heart… vs 4
-He will come with vengeance.
-He will come with a recompense (grace).
Romans 6:23 The wages of sin is death, but the
gift of God is eternal life through Jesus
Christ our Lord.
-The blind will see…
-The deaf will hear…
-The lame shall leap like a dear.
-The dumb shall sing
-Waters break out…living water.
AND A HIGHWAY SHALL BE THERE. VS 8
The way of holiness….
I. Who will not be on this highway?
A. The unclean
-Rev. 21:8, 21:27, 22:14-15,
-Isaiah 64:5-6
-It is those who remain in their sin without
repentance or confession. 1 John 1:9
Isaiah 1:18 Come now, and let us reason together, saith the LORD: though your sins be as scarlet, they shall be as white as snow; though they be red like crimson, they shall be as wool.
Isaiah 53:6 All we like sheep have gone astray; we have turned every one to his own way; and the LORD hath laid on him the iniquity of us all.
-The sinner who refuses to come to God
B. The Lion – The ravenous beast IT
-The Lion is the devil himself.
-1 Peter 5:8 Be sober, be vigilant; because
your adversary the devil, as a roaring lion,
walketh about, seeking whom he may devour:
-He won’t be able to do anything about the
people on this highway…he might stand by the
sidelines and try to discourage us…be he
can’t get on the road!
C. The ravenous beast…demons.
-They can’t nip at our heals
-Or get in our way.
II. Who will be there?
A. The wayfaring men. (People) vs. 8
-Those who have found the way and are walking
in it.
-Have you found the Way?
-John 14:6
-There is no other way
-Those who have found the WAY are on the God’s
Highway to heaven.
B. The redeemed shall walk there. Vs 9
-Those who have been bought by the precious
blood of Christ.
-Titus 2:11-14
-We were redeemed…when Jesus paid the price
for our sin by dying on the Cross.
III. The end of the line…vs. 10
-The ransomed of the Lord shall return…
-Singing
-With everlasting joy
-Joy and gladness.
-No sorrow or sighing….
Conclusion.
Are you on the road…?
There is only one way to get on.
John 14:6 I am the way, the truth and the
life, no man cometh unto the father but by me.
One other thing…there is no off ramp on this
road
Once you get on it…you will reach the final
destination.
It is the way of Highway of Holiness…
