Explores the profound truths of Christ's Covenant, Crucifixion, and Connection, revealing God's love and grace through His Son, Jesus Christ.

Introduction

Good morning, beloved family of God. It's a joy to gather together in this sacred space, isn't it? A space where we can unite in our shared faith, a space where we can lift up our hearts in worship, a space where we can sit at the feet of our Savior and learn from His divine wisdom. Today, we find ourselves standing at the foot of a mountain of truth that is both profound and deeply transformative.

Our focus today is on three main points: Christ's Covenant, Crucifixion, and Connection. These three themes intertwine, forming a rich tapestry of divine love and redemption that is woven throughout the Scriptures. We will be looking at passages from John, Jeremiah, Psalms, and Hebrews, each one shedding light on a different facet of our Savior's work and character.

In the words of John MacArthur, "What is the New Covenant then? It is the unilateral, irrevocable, unchangeable, eternal promise by God that He will save sinners by forgiving their transgressions and regenerating them from the inside to love Him and obey Him." And so, as we turn to the Scriptures today, let us remember that we are not simply studying an ancient text. We are unlocking the mysteries of God's love and grace, as revealed through His Son, Jesus Christ.

Christ's Covenant

When we look at the book of Jeremiah, we find a promise. A promise that speaks of a new agreement, a new arrangement, a new bond between God and His people. This is not a contract of convenience or a temporary arrangement. This is a covenant, a binding agreement that is based on love, commitment, and mutual trust. It's a promise that God makes to His people, a promise that He will never break.

Jeremiah 31: God declares, “The days are coming when I will make a new covenant with the people of Israel and with the people of Judah." This new covenant is not like the old one, the one that was broken by the people of Israel and Judah. This new covenant is different. It's a covenant that is written not on stone tablets, but on the hearts of the people. It's a covenant that is not about rules and regulations, but about relationship and redemption.

It's for all of us: It's a covenant that has been made possible through the life, death, and resurrection of Jesus Christ. Through His sacrifice on the cross, Jesus has made a way for us to enter into this new covenant relationship with God. He has paid the price for our sins, He has bridged the gap between us and God, and He has invited us to become part of God's family.

What it’s about: This new covenant is not about what we can do for God. It's about what God has already done for us. It's not about our ability to keep the law. It's about God's grace that covers our inability to keep the law. It's not about our efforts to earn God's favor. It's about God's love that is freely given to us, despite our failures and shortcomings.

It's about God: It's about His faithfulness, His steadfast love, His unchanging character. It's about His commitment to us, His promise to never leave us or forsake us. It's about His desire to have a personal relationship with us, to walk with us, to guide us, to comfort us, to strengthen us.

It's a reality:: It's a reality that we can experience every day. It's a reality that changes us, that transforms us, that shapes us into the people that God wants us to be. It's a reality that brings us closer to God, that deepens our understanding of His love, that strengthens our faith, that fills us with hope.

This new covenant is a commitment: It's a commitment that we make to God, to live according to His ways, to follow His commands, to seek His will. It's a commitment that God makes to us, to be our God, to be our guide, to be our strength, to be our hope. It's the foundation of our faith. It's the cornerstone of our relationship with God. It's the bedrock of our hope, our peace, our joy. It's the anchor of our souls, the compass of our lives, the light of our paths.
