Summary: Sermon outline for a missions emphasis.

The Gospel of Whosoever

Romans 10:8-13

Romans 10:8 But what saith it? The word is nigh thee, even in thy mouth, and in thy heart: that is, the word of faith, which we preach;

9 That if thou shalt confess with thy mouth the Lord Jesus, and shalt believe in thine heart that God hath raised him from the dead, thou shalt be saved.

10 For with the heart man believeth unto

righteousness; and with the mouth confession is made unto salvation.

11 For the scripture saith, Whosoever believeth on him shall not be ashamed.

12 For there is no difference between the Jew and the Greek: for the same Lord over all is rich unto all that call upon him.

13 For whosoever shall call upon the name of the Lord shall be saved.

INTRODUCTION: The word whosoever is one of the most important words in all the Bible. As a matter of fact this word occurs 110 times in the NT alone and it is filled with implications for the church and for each of us as individuals! First:

I. The Mandate – The Word

a. The nearness

Salvation is near, nearer than we think or know. God is at work seeking to “…save that which is lost...”

b. The nature

Paul states that it is “…the word of faith…”

c. The necessity

God has chosen the “…foolishness of preaching to save them that believe…” and he makes the point in verses 14-15 that preaching is central to God’s plan.

II. The Message

a. The scope

The message is inclusive. There is to be “…no difference between the Jew and the Greek; for the same Lord over all is rich unto them that call upon Him…”

b. The simplicity

The message is elementary. It is so simple that a child can understand and believe.

c. The substance

1. From the PENALTY of sin.

2. From the POWER of sin.

3. From the PRESENCE of sin.

III. The Mission – Matthew 28:19-20

a. To make

We are to go into all the world…

b. To mark

We are to baptize them in the name of the Father, Son, and Holy Spirit…

c. To mature

We are to teach them to “…observe all things whatsoever I have commanded you…”

CONCLUSION: The whosoever Gospel gives us our mandate, our message, and our mission in this world. The blessing of God will be on the church when the whosoever Gospel drives us to share the good news with all the world, starting here and going there!
