INTRODUCTION

Destruction is a reality in a fallen world, but it is never God’s desire for His covenant people. Scripture reveals that there is a destroyer whose assignment is to steal, kill, and destroy, yet there is a higher authority, God Himself, who restrains, rebukes, and stops destructive forces.

Throughout the Bible, whenever destruction approached God’s people, divine intervention stepped in. Whether through the blood, an altar, intercession, or divine marking, God consistently proved that He has power to stop what was sent to destroy. This message reveals that God is still stopping the hand of the destroyer today.

1. GOD ACKNOWLEDGES THE REALITY OF THE DESTROYER

God does not deny the presence of destructive forces, but He reveals His authority over them.

a) The destroyer exists but is limited

Satan operates under divine restriction (Job 1:12).

b) Destruction is not God’s plan for His people

God’s desire is life and peace (John 10:10).

c) God reveals danger before devastation

Divine warnings are acts of mercy (Amos 3:7).

d) Covenant determines protection

Those who belong to God are marked for preservation (Psalm 91:7).

Biblical Example: The destroyer in Egypt (Exodus 12:23)

2. GOD STOPS THE DESTROYER THROUGH COVENANT SIGNS

God uses covenant tokens to distinguish and protect His people from destruction.

a) The blood speaks preservation

The blood is a divine covering (Exodus 12:13).

b) Covenant marks create separation

God distinguishes between His people and others (Exodus 11:7).

c) Obedience activates protection

Protection follows compliance with God’s instruction (Hebrews 11:28).

d) God honors covenant over judgment

Mercy triumphs when covenant is in place (Psalm 105:8-10).

Biblical Example: Passover blood on the doorposts (Exodus 12:7, 13)

3. GOD STOPS DESTRUCTION THROUGH INTERCESSION

Earnest prayer and repentance can halt even advanced judgments.

a) Intercession stands in the gap

Prayer restrains judgment (Ezekiel 22:30).

b) God responds to genuine repentance

Mercy follows brokenness (2 Chronicles 7:14).

c) God commands the destroyer to stop

Heaven overrides destruction (2 Samuel 24:16).

d) One intercessor can save many

Righteous prayer has wide impact (James 5:16).

Biblical Example: David’s intercession stopping the plague (2 Samuel 24:15-16)

4. GOD MARKS HIS PEOPLE FOR PRESERVATION

Those who sigh, cry, and walk in righteousness are divinely marked.

a) God marks the righteous for protection

Divine markings attract mercy (Ezekiel 9:4).

b) Judgment bypasses those marked by God

God’s seal preserves life (Revelation 7:3).

c) Righteous living invites divine covering

Obedience activates safety (Proverbs 12:21).

d) God separates His own in times of trouble

Distinction brings preservation (Malachi 3:18).

Biblical Example: Marked believers spared in Jerusalem (Ezekiel 9:4-6)

5. GOD’S FINAL AUTHORITY SILENCES THE DESTROYER

No destructive force can operate beyond God’s command.

a) God creates the smith but controls the weapon

He limits every attack (Isaiah 54:16).

b) No weapon can succeed against God’s people

Attacks fail under divine authority (Isaiah 54:17).

c) God preserves destiny against destruction

Purpose cannot be aborted (Jeremiah 29:11).

d) God’s word ends every destructive agenda

Divine command overrides satanic plans (Psalm 46:9).

Biblical Example: The angel stopped at the threshing floor of Araunah (2 Samuel 24:16)

CONCLUSION

God remains the ultimate authority over life and death. The presence of the destroyer does not negate the power of God; instead, it highlights His supremacy. Whenever destruction approaches God’s people, divine intervention rises to halt it.

This message assures every believer that covenant, obedience, prayer, and righteousness still secure divine protection. As you trust in the Lord and walk in alignment with His word, the hand of the destroyer over your life, family, and destiny is permanently stopped in Jesus’ name.
