Summary: This is a message that attempts to draw our attention to the reason the Gift of Jesus is so indescribable when it comes to man’s efforts to describe Him.

Scripture: 2 Corinthians 9:15

Title: “The Gift That Keeps On Giving”

Purpose: To encourage people to develop a relationship with Jesus.

Introduction: Another very appropriate Scripture for the beginning of this message is, “For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life.” (John 3:16 – KJV) – God is a giving God. Every moment of our life God is giving us something. – The Apostle Paul was making reference to the Lord Jesus Christ when he used the words, “Unspeakable Gift” here in this portion of Scripture. The word “unspeakable” in the Greek is “INDESCRIBABLE.”

 Why did Paul use this word, “Indescribable” in his description of Jesus Christ?

THE GIFT OF JESIS IS INDESCRIBABLE BECAUSE:

I. INDESCRIBABLE BECAUSE IT IS “ETERNAL”

a. “My sheep hear my voice, and I know them, and they follow me: And I give unto them eternal life; and they shall never perish, neither shall any man pluck them out of my hand.” (John 10:27 – 29)

b. It’s hard to imagine what “eternal life” is really like because we have lived all of our existence in a temporary setting.

c. The most exciting gifts ever received from human hands will eventually wear out and be gone. – Not so with the gift of Jesus Christ. – This GIFT will last forever!

II. INDESCRIBABLE BECAUSE IT IS “FREE!”

a. How could something as priceless as “eternal life” be free?

b. Salvation through Jesus is FREE but it isn’t CHEAP!

c. The cost of REDEEMING mankind from sin was so expensive God knew man could never come up with the PRICE.

d. Nor could man ever save himself.

III. INDESCRIBABLE BECAUSE THERE’S NO ASSEMBLY REQUIRED.

a. Eph. 2:8 – 9, “For by grace are ye saved through faith; and that not of yourselves: it is the gift of God: Not of works, lest any man should boast.”

b. The more you use this “Indescribable Gift” the more it SHINES and the BETTER it works.

c. You can’t improve on this “Indescribable Gift”, it’s complete and does not need man’s help to improve it.

d. This GIFT is ready for use. – We can’t earn this gift, it has been paid for in full by the God of heaven.

IV. INDESCRIBABLE BECAUSE OF IT’S GUARANTEE.

a. This “Unspeakable (Indescribable) Gift” Paul wrote about comes with not only a “Lifetime Guarantee” but, it comes with an “ETERNAL GUARANTEE.”

b. This guarantee is backed by a COMPANY that has been in business for `ever!

c. The gift of Jesus Christ has never failed to work! (Some have failed to use it!)

d. The GUARANTEE is fully described in the manufacture’s handbook – the BIBLE.

V. INDESCRIBABLE BECAUSE IT’S LIFE-CHANGING EFFECTS.

a. From the very beginning Jesus changed the lives of everyone He came in contact with. – From His mother Mary to the disciples who watched Him go back to Heaven.

b. Even the WISE MEN after meeting Jesus when He was only a baby went back home “another way.” (Mt. 2:12 “And being warned of God in a dream that they should not return to Herod, they departed into their own country another way.”)

c. The “Life-Changing” effects that Jesus brings about are always for the better; never for the worse.

CONCLUSION: Let me offer you this GIFT today – Will you accept?
