Summary: As believers, we are often eager to share the Gospel with others and defend our faith against criticism.

As believers, we are often eager to share the Gospel with others and defend our faith against criticism. However, the Bible warns us that arguing with non-spiritual people can be a futile endeavor.

The Unspiritual Mind

In 1 Corinthians 2:14, the apostle Paul writes, "The natural person does not accept the things of the Spirit of God, for they are foolishness to him, and he cannot understand them, because they are spiritually discerned." This verse highlights the fundamental problem: the unspiritual mind is incapable of grasping spiritual truths.

The Futility of Argumentation

In 2 Timothy 2:23-25, Paul advises Timothy to "avoid foolish and ignorant disputes, knowing that they generate strife. And a servant of the Lord must not quarrel but be gentle to all, able to teach, patient, in humility correcting those who are in opposition, if God perhaps will grant them repentance, so that they may know the truth.

Here, Paul emphasizes that arguing with non-believers is not only futile but also counterproductive. It can lead to strife and hinder the Gospel message.

The Role of the Holy Spirit

In John 16:8-11, Jesus explains that the Holy Spirit will convict the world of sin, righteousness, and judgment. This conviction is not something we can accomplish through argumentation or persuasion; it is the work of the Holy Spirit.

So, how should we approach interactions with non-spiritual people? Here are some biblical principles to guide us:

1.Pray for them: Ask God to open their hearts and minds to the Gospel (2 Thessalonians 3:1).

2. Share your testimony*: Tell them about your personal experience with Jesus Christ (1 Peter 3:15).

3. Speak the truth in love: Share biblical truths in a gentle and respectful manner (Ephesians 4:15).

4. Avoid arguments: Refrain from engaging in debates or arguments that can lead to strife (2 Timothy 2:23-25).

5. Trust the Holy Spirit: Rely on the Holy Spirit to convict and convince others of the Gospel (John 16:8-11).

As believers, we must be mindful of our approach when interacting with non-spiritual people. While we should be eager to share the Gospel, we must avoid arguing or debating, as this can be counterproductive. Instead, let us pray for them, share our testimony, speak the truth in love, and trust the Holy Spirit to do His work.
